Conviently, I have to work till 11:00 am inside the Leg building. Yes, sometimes my work takes me into that den of ill-repute.

Be there with bells on!

Leave the bells at home
wear full body armor, a resperator and bring bear spray
Cool, see you there! I'll be wearing my Vive le Canada t-shirt anyway...I'll let the the cops handle bringing the mace.

I am taking that week off work (Aug 19 to the 25th) to protest and attend the demo and I can't wait to see all of you who will be at the AB legislature building.
Drinks are good.

T-Shirt? How did you get a t-shirt?? *hint* *hint*

There's a Timmies about 4 blocks away too. And the new Roadhouse across the street from it too.
Leave the bells at home wear full body armor, a resperator and bring bear spray
Naaa. That would imply I don't plan on being peaceful. I do plan on it, I am an admirer of Ghandi after all. If they don't want to be, the dumbest thing they could do is use deadly force. Pepper spray? I can handle that stuff. My Habenero Burritos are far spicier.

I'll doubtless be performing my bureaucratic little tasks to the best of my ability, like any other day, and wondering why I don't have the guts to chuck it all and...

Oh, yeah, the income and responsibility thing...

Eight years to go...

But, I'll be there in heart.

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO

I'd like to run a "virtual march" for anyone who can't attend a physical protest, but I don't know if we can resolve the technical issues in time. If so, we'll let everyone know.

I'll be reporting from K-Town. Asked local RCMP if they were aware of any plans to disrupt the protest and they said nothing had been discussed at HQ.

"As long as we aren't called in because of violence or destruction of property you probably won't see us."

Translation: "Of course we'll be watching you."

Report from Edmonton:

All went well. Sheriffs were seen, but only to offer use of the PA system. A very upbeat crowd. No one needed bail money.

Pictures to follow.

Rally in Kelowna was small at best but the people who were providing passers-by with information about the SPP were doing a great job. A few small groups of various backgrounds had banded together to rally this issue. No uniformed police were in attendance. I took off from the street level after 30 minutes and made my way to a rooftop for further observation. After another hour passed I concluded that there were no provocateurs in the crowd or near the rally. When I spoke with a lady from one peace group we were both amazed that there was no MSM coverage. I asserted that without proper MSM coverage the rally would go mostly unnoticed.

From the Kelowna Capital News:

Rally against trade talks held Sunday

Aug 17 2007

What is being called a Security and Prosperity Partnership meeting between the leaders of Canada, U.S. and Mexico in Montebello, Que., on Aug. 20-21 may seem like an issue that’s a long way from Kelowna.

But critics of the potential sovereignty being discarded in favour of a North American Union economic agreement, feel it’s an issue local residents need to understand.

To that end, a public rally is planned for Sunday, 2 p.m., at Kerry Park.

“We are protesting the integration of trade regulations and security regulations between Mexico, the U.S. and Canada,” said organizer Dan Merchant.

He cited one potential setback is an increase in the use of pesticides on Canada’s fruit and vegetable crops, which a North American Union agreement could allow, superceding any desire by Canadians to otherwise see a reduction.

Merchant and his like-minded protesters will be handing out information about the issues they feel are at stake as trade barriers between countries continue to become more seemless.

“Our main objective is to get people informed and interested in what is going on in Canada regarding the SPP (Security and Prosperty Partnership) and the NAU (North American Union),” Merchant said.

For more information about this side of the issue, check out the following web sites: www.globalresearch.org, www.freedom.org or www.canadians.org. />
From Castanet and Kelowna Daily Courier:

Nothing yet...
