You can have the homosexuality I'll just take the heroin to numb the pain. 8)

Well, at least that will give people something to do after the NDP confiscates their guns and nationalizes the oil patch. Oh, and your house. They're taking that too. Invest in cardboard boxes while you still can.

Provincial election andy, they can't nationalize or confiscate anything until they win the big prize, but if they ever do,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 8O

Guess you've never lived in BC. BC Hydro, BC Rail. BC Ferries. Or Newfoundland for that matter - Abitibi. Of course those were Socred and Conservative govts, so maybe it's not the same thing.

All provincial government run not national. And I lived in BC back in the 80's, other than the weather I would never live their again. Too many lefties and ex-hippies, I found the stink of them suffocating.

Fine, they'll provincialize the oil patch. Never heard that expression tho.

If they do that prepare for transfer payments to drop right off as companies close shop and work drops off to next to nothing.

Yes, because that is what they will actually do. Confiscate guns and houses too.

Try to focus andy, we're talking about government take-overs of industry.

I know the NDP won't confiscate houses but I'm not convinced they won't go after my guns.

Notley deliberate didn't mention Mulcair at all during her speech so I'm taking that as the first sign that they're going to try to maintain as much respectful distance as possible between the provincial government and the whackjobs in the federal Dippers. If Mr. Harper sees the writing on the wall and moves towards the new Alberta government in a positive way then I expect that this province will still be Death Valley for the federal NDP. Honestly I could see Albertans turning out in big numbers for Justin Trudeau, if Harper fucks up this new relationship with Alberta that's been forced on him, long before anyone out here takes a nutcase like Mulcair to heart.

I think you nailed it, urban Alberta is much closer to Liberal than to Federal NDP or the Conservatives.

There are plenty of folk on the Prairies that will vote NDP provincially and Conservative federally. There is a world of difference between the provincial NDP parties here and their federal counterparts, coupled with a strong dislike of anything Liberal. Knowing they can actually get elected keeps them pragmatic and grounded, unlike their federal counterparts who have too many fringe elements that 'offend' the sensibilities of many.

That's what I was thinking. The NDP getting elected in Alberta may well help the federal Conservatives.

I think it will help the Ontario NDP as well.

With the PC Party shitting the bed with their new leader and the current Liberal government as corrupt as ever, we may have Ontario and Alberta with NDP governments.

Guy_Fawkes @ Tue May 12, 2015 10:26 am

It all depends how the they approach the new government; if they do what McKay did, and consider it a joke, then they could have issues.

Mowich @ Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:00 pm

Half an hour after the polls closed in Alberta, the UCP has won a majority victory taking back the province.

Yee Haw!
