However, Laurier’s Lieberal party of the day was under intense pressure to split the region into multiple provinces to prevent what was viewed as a potential future threat to the political mastery of Ontararario and Queerbec.

The provinces remained relatively subservient with Saskatchewan stagnating in real growth and population following entry to Confederation and Alberta not really coming into her own until the 1960’s.
