I finally got around to coding a famous canadians database, to put all the famous canadians in, and so its easy for people to add new entries.

This listing is also more in depth, with space to enter in the persons
name, date of birth, website, bio, resume, and even upload a picture.

but now this is the part i need help with, adding all the people.
So if you feel inclined please enter in some persons into the database, try to keep the bios fairly short, you can link to a ful length one. It would be nice if you wrote your own minibio.

So it could take awhile to populate the database, but with some help shouldn't take forever.

Still need people to add more famous Canadians, doesn't take long too dig up a little info on a person then psot it!

   

I added 2 new categories to the Famous Canadian Database, as well i added a link in the top right for people to submit edit/modification requests to persons.

Some of the famous people have been submitted as just there name. So if you want to add to that info you now can.

   

I want to give a thanks to the member "Bonkers", he has been submitting some great additions to the Famous Canadians Database.

This isn't new but i never mentioned it, the mainpage of the famous canadians has a recent additions list.

I also updated the listing pages to sort by column, rather than back and forth rows. Also added an indicator to show if the famous person has a picture on there page.

Remember anyone can add new famous Canadians that might be missing, or submit and edit or addition to an existing canadian. Many of the profiles have little or no information besides there name.

I am also going to add famous canadian submissions to members profile activity, so to see if that member has submitted any, for proper credit. Points are already awarded for new additions, but will also add points for edits.

lol what? its in the black menu at the top under "content". And is on the main site menu as a main menu item "Famous Canadians".

CKA has always had a famous Canadians list, but in June 2003 it was turned into a php/database community driven database.

If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. I was thinking about maybe adding the ability to comment on persons...?

   

Yeah, I know, there are probably all kinds of nooks and crannies on the site that I should have checked out by now!

   

I decided to also track when the person was added or last modified, I hadn't been doing this. So for all the existing entrees they will have no date.

I will also start to track how many times a person has been viewed, so I can make a list of the most popular.

   

well the new menu on the front-page should help, with the popouts, it links to most the sections of the site. There is also the sitemap: www.canadaka.net/sitemap.php

   

Instead of film or actors, how about the more specific title of Porn, there are some good Canadian "actors" LOL

   

if you are interested in submitting persons to this category I will make it. I'm sure there are some well known Canadians in that field. heh

ok I added a "Porn" category, unless maybe I should use "Adult Film" but there might be some well knowns from print as well.
We will see if it gets any submissions.
