Landslides happen quite often here. Although the Jonsons Landing slide was huge... Last year, part of the high way slid as well. No casualties luckily.

Funny that the only time the government in BC evidences a faith in God is when they can blame Him for something.

I don't get the Government disaster financial assistance in these cases... if you can't get an insurance company to cover you for everything because they deem there is a risk (earthquake, mudslide, flood, tornado... whatever), don't build there. I don't have earthquake insurance here but that's a calculated risk on my part... if a 7.5 hits and I lose everything, I don't expect the government to step in.

Using that line of thought the province can just say build, build, with no duty of care. Guess the concept of knew the event was likely is just too abstruse for you.

Wow andy learned a new word today!

Fine, prove god exists and that he/she intend this to happen. Province should compensate the victims and then sue god for wilful destruction, hell even persue criminal charges.

Why do we call these "acts of God", unless we recognize that we're really just a gigantic game of SimCity for a douchebag?

I think we're just part of a giant computer in search of the answer to God, the universe and everything.
