I am actually. Find a post that states we are all saying teachers and schools should ignore the issue. You won't, but because you disapprove of our view, you will perform a logical leap with a cliff diving equivalent to try and make a point. You failed miserably and offered nothing but noise.

Shocking.

First, I didnt offer "nothing but noise". Im sure your definition of "noise" is any opinion that differs from yours, but in reality I laid out a counter-argument to the idea that teaching kids to fight is the only solution to bullying. Your contribution to this thread, as is so often the case with you, was nothing except to words ( "it wont") followed by equally brief insults. If anyone is "nothing but noise" on this thread its you.

Second, what you describe is a straw-man argument, not Toewsing.

Toewsing comes from Vic Toews saying if someone didn't support his bill they stood with child pornographers. Ie it's saying someone is blaming the victim or supporting criminals. We saw it a lot in the thread on Pakistanis turning out white girls. School board officials turning a blind eye hardly rises to that level.

But, you also didn't say that Hypocrite supports this turning of a blind eye, you asked if he did. Perfectly acceptable. If he then answers that he doesn't, you can challenge him to say what he does support. If he gives a reasonable response and you then insist he does support turning a blind eye, that would be a very mild form of Toewsing. So mild it doesn't deserve the term. Maybe Kennying or some other wonder of the Reformacon debating team.

Bullies don't just exist in school. You have to deal with them your whole life.

Too true.

BeaverFever @ Sun Jun 03, 2012 10:38 pm

No Gunny, Toewsing would be if I said you support bullies, which I didnt say. Straw man is apt if I applied an argument to you that you didnt make. But you don't strike me as someone capable of nuanced thinking so Ill forgive you.

Read through this thread, youll see more than one post saying an anti-bullying strategy is useless and wont change anything. None of you have said what they SHOULD instead do, only that they shouldnt bother with this (or presumably any) anti-bully plan, simply opining that anything they do would be useless. The Current situation is that teachers and schoolboards turn a blind eye to it. Instead, your cohorts have been engaging in 1980s Hollywood fantasies where the nerd knocks out the jock and all the other bullies are scared away. Real life doesnt work like that. So far, you, Mr. Gunnair, have yet to string together more than 2 words on the subject; "it won't" being the most eloquent grunts you have mustered to date. As usual, you are here more for insults than any intelligent contribution.

You aren't using that term properly. BTW...Brock is now the the etiquette police on this thread...youre not allowed to "piss on" other peoples posts now. Not sure he enforces the law evenly though...

Oh boo hoo. Do you behave like this outside a forum?

I have read through the thread, and as per your SOP, you are having yet another hissy fit because few will agree with your stance and all your efforts to bludgeon your opinion on the group has failed. Hence your Toewsing of the thread. I don't buy for a moment that the current situation is as simplistic as you state, though it appears you need to dumb things down to the lowest level in order for you to attain some modicum of understanding....but hey, we knew that about you. With respect to the opinions that many here have said about bullies - that of fighting back, is hardly a Hollywood fantasy since it seemed to have worked for them. I'll agree, most of the bullies I dealt with in school were sorted out eventually with a punch in the head, not by a teacher. That bothers you I know, which speaks quite a bit about you. So far there Mr. Beaver Fever, you've managed to string along your usual whiny arguments followed up by ridiculous arguments when you find that once again, you are standing in a field of your own. That's not a bad place to be, but frankly, if you don't like it, and your pissy tantrum suggests that, then maybe you need to hang around with some like minded buddies. I'm certain that Andy wil join you and you can kiss each other's ass to your mutual satisfaction.

jason700 @ Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:54 am

What it comes down to is that bullying is a complicated issue. Although a punch in the face to a bully is often a great solution and there's plenty of anecdotal evidence to support it, it's often not an option. Other students need to come forward when they witness wrongdoing. They know way more often than teachers who's being bullied and by who. Perhaps a student committee or just anonymous eyes and ears for the faculty to rely on.

To Gunnair: I'm glad you finally decided to add something to the discussion. "FUCK OFF... you need to", is no way to enter a thread.

Brenda @ Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:58 am

The problem is that no one wants to be a rat. When my daughter got bullied by that 3 or 4 year older boy, of course punching him in the face was no option. Everybody who rode that bus knew. It ONLY happened on the bus, not in school, what so ever.
Even SHE did not want to be a tattle tale, and chose to stay silent.

I am all for kids standing up for themselves, but they are still kids, and it is our responsibility, as adults, to stand up for them. If we don't, what message are we sending them?

What fucking alternate reality do you live in? It' like you're projecting all your faults onto me.

1) This little spat started because I hurt Brock's feelings when I disagreed with him and he whined about it. You joined this thread for no other reason than to rescue your little forum buddy and tell me to fuck off (your first post on this thread was "fuck off"). All your other contributions on this thread were insults directed at me, not contributions to the discussion, except for the 2-word "it doesn't" post. Your'e not even in the conversation at hand except to attack me, yet I am the one "having a hissy fit" and "bludgeoning" people? You are either seriously deluded or just being an abnoxious prick. I think it's the latter.

2) My argument is simplistic?? Let's set things straight: your argument is that bullying is solved with a "punch in the head." Full stop, end of discussion. That, in your opinion, is not a ridiculously over-simplistic argument? My argument, on the other hand, says teachers and school boards need to get involved and develop a comprehensive anti-bully strategy, because for any number of reasons a victim may be unwilling or unable to fight a bully (or multiple bullies) and solve the problem. See above re: obnoxious prick.

3) What does "bludgeoning" people with an opinion mean to you? Because I dare to state an opinion that differs from yours and then don't disappear when you and your girlfriends all swarm in and start hurling insults and shouting down the opposition? What, your little club can post, re-post,cheerlead eachother, insult and troll as much as you want but nobody else is allowed to defend themselves or their ideas? YOU and your little club are pathetic. YOU people are the self-styled bullies on this forum. Any time one of you gets into an argument, you send out the Bat Signal to to the others and the rest swarm in to dominate the thread with insults and shut down any discussion. I predict that in keeping with your past tactics, your next tactic on this thread will devolve into your speculation that I am a teenager in my moms basement or a 40-year old Tim Hortons worker, or some other invention of your imagination.

Get a grip bud.

Speaking of pathetic. You've joined ranks of Eureka and McGuyver in seeking like minded clones to bully your own viewpoint which if one dares disagree with will draw out the ire and attacks. You can play the holier-than-thou as much as you wish, but before you label anyone a bully, review your own sordid posting history.

As far as speculation, the only speculation is that you're an angry little prat that likes to argue and bully people into your way of thinking.

And before you think I'm trying to bully you into my way of thinking, I'll offer the harsh reality that I don't honestly care what any of you or your ilk think. You are more than entitled to your simplistic opinions.
