... okay, just to be clear, the above pictures show debris from the Pacific Garbage Patch that isn't alleged to have come from japan?
Some of it certainly is Japanese. But did it come from the tsunami? I have no idea.
But it's probably about 95% Chinese-made or so, despite probably being 95% North American-owned

... well, apparently the country of japan is doling out millions of dollars to jurisdictions where debris is washing up on the shore. so there IS incentive to fake it since there is money to be made ...
... that's why it might be faked. and it wouldn't have to be done on large scale like you say. it wouldn't be that hard to do ...
