Justin Trudeau is meddling in American politics and the US obviously needs to investigate this leader of a country that's hostile to our government and to our economic and national interests. The people who are colluding with him should also be investigated for any possible violations of law.

The US should also look into sanctions against Canada for meddling in our internal affairs.

Trudeau tells US governors to ditch 'America First'

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has told governors from across the US to ditch the "America First" motto.

His National Governors' Association speech in Rhode Island on Friday was a first for a Canadian prime minister.

In his speech, Mr Trudeau urged US governors to embrace their neighbour to the north and avoid protectionism.

It is all a part of his aggressive strategy to promote a "thinner border" ahead of vital trade talks with the US renegotiating the Nafta treaty.

President Donald Trump has made "America First" his mantra, shaping his policies on trade and immigration.

But Mr Trudeau, who is a fierce advocate of free trade, told the governors protectionist policies "kill growth".

"And that hurts the very workers these measures are nominally intended to protect. Once we travel down that road, it can quickly become a cycle of tit-for-tat, a race to the bottom, where all sides lose," Mr Trudeau said.

"If anything, we would like a thinner border, not a thicker one."

Earlier in the day, Mr Trudeau had talks with governors from Wisconsin, Kentucky, Rhode Island and Iowa.

Nafta is a controversial trade deal between US, Mexico and Canada, which Mr Trump has threatened to rip up because he said it is unfair to the US.

With Nafta renegotiations set to begin in August, Canada must use whatever time is left to convince leaders that bilateral trade between the two countries must be a priority.

The USA meddles in the internal affairs of countless countries around the world, conspiring with some, toppling leaders in others, but that's OK. Canada does it, we're instant demons.

I'm in no way a Trudeau supporter, but this is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black, in a big way. The USA is the last country that should be crying about meddling with others.

BSBS

BartSimpson BullShit.

There's nothing untoward or unusual about a state official making an official visit to another country and explaining their government's official opinion to lawmakers in that country. That's actually what they're supposed to do when they visit. It's the whole point of diplomatic visits in the first place.

The real objective of creating this thread is to make Russian meddling in the US election seem normal.

That's rich coming from a country that routinely has its ambassadors try to influence Canadian trade, defence and foreign policy.

Anyways, the fact is governors will look out for their state's best interests, which for many means trading with Canada.

Interesting article boot.

IMO Trudeau is doing what he should be doing as Prime Minister. He's meeting with trading partners to ensure a positive future of imports and exports that benefits both sides.

I do not see the need to speak of hostilities or sanctions between the US and Canada. It's not like we're North Korea.
