Because we don't have robots delivering the news, and if we did, they would lean however their programmers did. We just have to hope that the media is at least reasonably objective. I think we're not doing too bad in Canada with that, better than the US. That is, if you're a middle class white male, anyway. A lot of stuff we don't even hear about, because it gets filtered out. Then we get surprised by events that came to a head that we had no idea about.

The CHRC seemed to go after some people no matter where the server was located - however
On June 26, 2013 Brian Storseth's (Con. Westlock—St. Paul) Private Members Bill was passed and Section 13.1 (internet 'hate speech') of the Canadian Human Rights Act was repealed.
IIRC there was a one year implementation period but that would have been over last June.
