ELECTION 2021 - Trudeau calls federal election
DrCaleb DrCaleb:
As I predicted, Trudeau only visited the West once, because he know he can't win here. And O'Toole visited only once, because he thinks he's a sure bet. But Maxime has been here for a week, because he know he can spoil O'Toole's assumptions.
I think he probably didn't come back because he was probably worried about getting physically attacked by the RWNJs.
That was probably a mistake, because there are actually a couple seats that are on the bubble and he might have had a chance to flip at least one if he'd come back here:

So far, this election is turning out close to the way I predicted. The NDP and the Tories are, as of this writing, projected to pick up a couple of seats, while the Liberals have pretty much the same count as when they started.
This election has pissed away $600 million to leave us almost right back where we started. It started as an election about fucking nothing when Trudeau requested dissolution, and it's ended as an election about fucking nothing.
Congratulations on the win, Justin.
Hope the $600 million and no net gains were worth it.

/\/\ Looks like it. Just as I thought.
However, glancing around at the results so far, including in my riding, not all the polls have reported yet PLUS there are the mail-in ballots to consider. Some are very close to tipping in another direction so I'm not convinced yet.

Kitchener Centre goes green. So with May that is 2 seats, one more than I expected.

As always the BQ gets way too many seats.

According to the latest data from Elections Canada, nearly 1.3 million mail-in ballots were sent to voters this year, and 951,039 had been returned as of Monday morning. However, that number was expected to rise as mail-in ballots could be returned up to the moment polls closed.
...
An Elections Canada spokesperson told CTVNews.ca last week that the counting process for mail-in ballots could take between two to five days to conclude.
This could delay results in close ridings. It could also delay a clear picture on who will form the next government, although that result is typically called well before vote counting has concluded.
https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/federal ... -1.5593216IMO it shouldn't be officially called before vote counting has concluded.
Edit - When I just checked just 2% is the difference between the Conservative and Liberal candidate in my riding.

If Trudeau thought he was unpopular before, just wait till tomorrow morning after people realize that we wasted five weeks and $600m to repeat the 2019 election and go back to square one where we were a few weeks ago.

I always find the BQ is a good barometer of how healthy federalism is. The BQ biggest opponent is always the BQ thou. Like the dog that chases a car it would never know what to do when it catches it. The larger it get thou means the proponents for federalism are just that weaker not that separatism is looking that much better.
In Quebec the safe best ends up with the BQ when no one on the federalist side is showing a clear path. If either the Liberals or the Cons can figure out Quebec we are all in trouble.
Just woke up and checked the results. Not only are we back to where we started, but it seems Toronto has fucked everyone yet again.
What a fucking waste of time and money. Words cannot express how irritated and disgusted I am that we went through all of that just to put us back to start.
I hope the fucking government falls at the first confidence motion and puts this country in a perpetual state of elections because at this point, we deserve nothing less.
Fucking joke.

Even with the helping hand of FPTP, our major parties aren’t popular enough to win majorities. Five of the last seven governments have been minority. It’s high time our politicians adjusted to this reality and either make minorities work or form coalitions.

It still pisses me off that they are considered a Federal party, when they only run provincially.

So if the Cons or any other party were to create a confidence motion and that motion succeeds, and the pandemic is still a thing, I predict two things:
1. The Liberals would get a majority
2. The party that created the confidence motion, would join the greens, and the PPC in club irrelevant.
Trudeau better understand he needs to get his moistly speaking ass back to work.

Mockery of democracy, bloc at 6% yet have 30 seats.

I was surprised to see how confidently they were calling things without finishing the counting. With almost a million votes still uncounted there is a remote chance changing something. I guess all we can do is wait and see.
At least with news centerized we won’t have any ridings that were so close that tv, newspapers and radio called it for the top three. Needless to say there was a recount on that one and lots of confusion for a while.

And that is with all 3 debates being in Quebec.
