Bottom line for me re: Faith Goldy and the rest of them--the last two white pride movements of any size were the Third Reich and the KKK. So fuck 'em.

Conversely, I view the two best white pride movements as the Western abolition of slavery and (combined) the two world wars to establish the West as free nations.

These events were white people at our best and I am utterly proud of the white people who fought for these things.

Yes, I know other people were involved but the fact remains that white people led these efforts and were the majority of the troops in these struggles.

I don't think either of those would be classified as "white pride" movements. White supremacist groups hold that white people are superior to other races. This is the belief of the KKK, and was the belief of the Nazis.

For the record, the KKK does not think *all* whites are superior. They view white baptists as superior. They dislike Jews, other protestants, Catholics, Irish, Italians, etc. Not even the Nazi's were white supremacist.

Hmmm--Goldy might be in tough for the Nazi vote anyways. There's two others running. Christopher Broskhy is also running--he did 16 years in the US for the racially-motivated killing of a black man and wears a swastika necklace. Then there's James Sears who runs a neo-Nazi newspaper in Toronto.

DrCaleb @ Tue Jul 31, 2018 11:18 am

Wow. All we ever get out west are well spoken young professionals running for mayor. Who knew neo-Nazis and crack smokers made good mayors too?

It will be tough for her to court the Nazi vote considering the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) was dissolved on October 10, 1945.

Pardon me but I reject the notion that being proud of your race is necessarily racist.

That's one of those PC notions that can be tossed on the ash heap of history.

The notion that a race is superior is racist, by definition, I'd say.

And if only its philosophy died with it.

Nazism is dead.

This is Nazism....

Nazism is a form of fascism and showed that ideology's disdain for liberal democracy and the parliamentary system, but also incorporated fervent antisemitism, scientific racism, and eugenics into its creed. Its extreme nationalism came from Pan-Germanism and the Völkisch movement prominent in the German nationalism of the time, and it was strongly influenced by the anti-Communist Freikorps paramilitary groups that emerged after Germany's defeat in World War I, from which came the party's "cult of violence" which was "at the heart of the movement."[2]

Nazism subscribed to theories of racial hierarchy and Social Darwinism, identifying the Germans as a part of what the Nazis regarded as an Aryan or Nordic master race.[3] It aimed to overcome social divisions and create a German homogeneous society based on racial purity which represented a people's community (Volksgemeinschaft). The Nazis aimed to unite all Germans living in historically German territory, as well as gain additional lands for German expansion under the doctrine of Lebensraum and exclude those who they deemed either community aliens or "inferior" races.

The term "National Socialism" arose out of attempts to create a nationalist redefinition of "socialism", as an alternative to both international socialism and free market capitalism. Nazism rejected the Marxist concept of class conflict, opposed cosmopolitan internationalism and sought to convince all parts of the new German society to subordinate their personal interests to the "common good", accepting political interests as the main priority of economic organization.[4]

The Nazi Party's precursor, the Pan-German nationalist and antisemitic German Workers' Party, was founded on 5 January 1919. By the early 1920s the party was renamed the National Socialist German Workers' Party – to attract workers away from left-wing parties such as the Social Democrats (SPD) and the Communists (KPD) – and Adolf Hitler assumed control of the organization. The National Socialist Program or "25 Points" was adopted in 1920 and called for a united Greater Germany that would deny citizenship to Jews or those of Jewish descent, while also supporting land reform and the nationalization of some industries. In Mein Kampf ("My Struggle"; 1924–1925), Hitler outlined the anti-Semitism and anti-Communism at the heart of his political philosophy, as well as his disdain for representative democracy and his belief in Germany's right to territorial expansion.[5]

I mean if you believe the the right, alt-right or the slightly right wish to revive a greater germany where there are no jews and all the people living there are perfect little aryan-germans and there were no socialists, then maybe... maybe the philosophy of Nazism lives on. But being a Nationalist does not make you a Nazi, otherwise every leader in history who believed in their nation would be a nazi and we would all be ruled by nazis. Nazis.

To my mind believing that white people are the Master Race, and belief in establishing a political system recognizing that is naziism. I mean I'm sure the Nazis had a policy on pet ownership, but that's bnot really made them stand out.

You got guys running around painting swastikas, propagating Nazi and fascist literature of that era and doing Hitler salutes, so, no, I don't think it's dead.

llama66 @ Tue Jul 31, 2018 1:42 pm

Could you imagine the tears if I made a blanket statement like yours. I'll let you in on a secret, most white people don't think they're members of some master race. Most white people don't think of that shit at all.

I'm sure to you think that's because we're so busy trying to develop ways to make all non-whites suffer, but its seriously because we do not think it important.

I think you misconstrued what I am saying. I suggest re-reading.

I never said a damn thing about anyone being superior.

Kinda sad when the guy smoking crack did a decent job, arguably better than those before him.

Maybe more Mayors need to be on the pipe.
