PMO principle secretary resigns, effective immediately:

$1:
In a major shakeup to the highest ranks of the Prime Minister's Office, Gerald Butts resigned Monday as Justin Trudeau's principal secretary.

The bombsell departure — Butts, along with chief of staff Katie Telford, are the two most senior staffers in Trudeau's inner circle — comes amid allegations that senior members of the PMO pressured former justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould to help Quebec-based multinational engineering firm SNC-Lavalin avoid criminal prosecution on bribery and fraud charges in relation to contracts in Libya.

In a statement to reporters, Butts said he categorically denies allegations that he or anyone else in the PMO put this sort of pressure on Wilson-Raybould. He said the accusation is "simply not true."

Not going to comment further but down the line I expect the Butts had to leave due to the SNC Lavalin debacle as well as (hopefully) the Liberal caucus finally doing some kind of mini-rebellion over the dictatorial way the PMO is run.

The Peoplekind that he called Nazi's will be happy. [cheer]

Unfortunately it's a case of to little to late to save the administration. ROTFL

But, it will be interesting to see if some of the idiocy stops now that he's not "influencing" Justin and I wonder where he'll rear his ugly agenda driven head again?

Probably to BC, to help out Horgan, Weaver, May, Jagmeet, Svend, Stewart, and all the rest who are trying to destroy a third of the national economy.

I suppose that'd be a good fit for him if those economy killing losers were guaranteed to stay in power. But, given Horgan doesn't have a majority gov't and needs Weaver's 3 seats to have 1 member more than the Liberals I don't think they're crazy enough to bring in the worlds greats agendaist. Especially since a majority of people in BC favour the Trans Mountain pipeline which our furry little friend Mr.Butts obviously isn't a fan of.

So Geppetto cut Pinnochio's strings, eh. Wonder how the puppet will function without buttsy orchestrating his every move? This SNC Lavalin scandal is a gift that just keeps on giving - to the opposition. :D With any luck it will carry over to the election.

His statement sure begs the question - if he isn't guilty of anything why the heck would he resign? The second most important person in the liberal government. The idiot behind all the SJW, environmental, cultural sensitivity BS is gone - good riddance.

Anywhere but in Canada would be fine with me. He helped wynne-bag bring ON to its knees and did his level best to do the same to Canada.

The SNC-Lavalin issue just won't go away. There is a tradition that when the PM is in trouble, his secretary take the blame and resigns. Nigel Wright resigned over the Duffy affair. But to do that, he would have to take the blame. What's the point in resigning and claiming he didn't do anything wrong? Doesn't that defeat the point?

There's always those in the partisan ranks who are so credulous they're essentially incapable of ever believing that they and their party and their ideology could do any wrong. Butts saying something like that on his way out is meant to mollify those kinds of supporters in their dark moment. Think Nixon up to the bitter end, not admitting a single bit of wrongdoing at all, and doubling-down on how "the enemy" was sabotaging him. All politicians act this way when something blows up on them and the Butts/Trudeau tandem is no different than the others at all.

BRAH @ Tue Feb 19, 2019 6:14 am

This doesn’t matter because the bought media will make sure Treason Trudeau wins the election.

llama66 @ Tue Feb 19, 2019 7:11 am

The True PM of Canada stepped down? Things must be worse for Trudeau than first imagined.

Freakinoldguy @ Tue Feb 19, 2019 11:01 am

There should be two more investigations into the PMO's office subverting justice because when you think about it there's a pattern here. First the PMO's office and JWR colluded to interfere in the way the Justice system works when Natives are involved, then the PMO's office along with JWR, the Minister of National Defense and the CDS colluded to ensure the outcome of the Admiral Norman trial.

So, is it any surprise that the main protagonists once again colluded in the SNC-Lavalin investigation. The only difference this time is that one of the people saw the writing on the wall and decided to take a hike while leaving the other two with their faces hanging out which, fortunately for us cost the power behind the throne his job. [cheer]

Agree, this current regime is not fit to govern.

Came for the plank walking.

Was disappointed.
