It also isn't the kind of pro-US that you think it is, Godz. Here's a little history lesson: Britain used to control Iran, there was a popular uprising and they were shown the door. A fledgling democracy took over. British and (mostly) US oil companies tried to starve Iran, hoping that the government would fail so they could deal with one man. When that didn't work the CIA devised a coup and installed the shah. In 1979 Ayotollah Khomeini and his his followers joined forces with the democratic movement and overthrew the Shah. Khomeini seized power and did his best to shut out those in the democratic moverment.

That has continued up to this day and while the (mostly) young people who make up the modern Iranian democratic movement are pro-American in the sense of wanting that kind of rights and freedoms, they are also very aware of what life was like under the shah and have no wish to allow a puppet government of the US come into power.
