Why are so many Albertans anti-Canadian?

Why do so many other Canadians hate Alberta almost as much as they hated Nazi Germany? :|

Rachel Notley should cut off Equalization payments, Alberta first.

There’s no such thing as a Province making “equalization payments”.

Equalization is paid from federal tax revenue

I don’t think many Albertans are, unless you count opposing the federal Liberal Party and it’s values as being so.

In which direction is the equalzation going to flow this year?

I think for many of those who do, it’s an extension of their anti-Americanism. Alberta is commonly considered the most American of our provinces, just as Quebec is considered the most European (with downtown Toronto trying hard to compete in that category). If you’re a Canadian who hates all things American (IOW, a Canadian nationalist), you’re going to have a distaste for Alberta and it’s dominant culture. These same people also tend to be anti-Israel, because Israel is a US ally.

I’d say there’s an inverse correlation among Canadians between disliking Alberta and disliking Quebec.

Equalization is not the culprit. It's Albertan's incomes and youth that determine our tax contributions. GST alone makes for half the tax we send to Ottawa.

Toronto becoming like Europe? That’s a new one. Manhattan is usually the role model.

Ontarians spend very little time thinking about Alberta at all actually. At least in political/economic terms. But from the sounds of it on CKA, it seems Albertans are obsessed with Ontario. Sounds like some of the Albertan right keep a picture of Kathleen Wynne right next to the one of their highschool crush who never even knew they existed. :P

Israel being an American ally has nothing to do with it. All the western nations are US allies too, including the European countries that we’re supposedly trying to emulate.

Nobody cares about Quebecs politics or economy either. The Alberta-Quebec dichotomy you mention is outdated by about 20 years.

Equalization isn't the problem, our high incomes are.

Good God learn how things work. This is Canada, PMs and Premiers don't sit up in the middle of the night tweeting decrees like some sort of Divine Right of Kings.
And the money comes off your pay and goes directly to Ottawa where they decide how it's distributed, Notley doesn't write them a cheque from "Alberta's bank account".

Just thought I'd shit disturb and make some Albertans and Tories blood boil.
Daily Poll: Who do you favour for mayor of Vancouver?

I went all through school with her. The schools where half the Dad's worked at one of the local refineries....

Some people just seem to enjoy imagining that others hate them, for some reason. [huh]

Good God not every subject has to do with Trump, learn how things work. As for your Green Pal running for Mayor she couldn't do any worse than Mayor Moonbeam good luck to her.
