Just to inform Rugby maniacs viewing this, that I think this is Banff's predictions for the main Canadian rugby league, the Super league.

danikyvor @ Mon Nov 13, 2006 3:47 am

Canada's doing quite well in the rankings for the Internationals, they're placed 13th I think worldwide.

danikyvor @ Mon Nov 13, 2006 3:47 am

Oh and they're playing Wales this coming weekend!

Prestwick @ Mon Nov 13, 2006 4:05 am

Yup yup. A real test for Canadian rugby. The Welsh are red hot right now and are on form. However Alot of people on the Canadian team play day in day out in Welsh and Scottish teams so they'll probabbly have a good feel for the Welsh.

Candadian touring squad.

There's a couple on the Edinburgh squad, Mike Pyke for one, who played for Canada in the Churchill Cup! There's another guy too but I can't remember his name ha ha

Well the Canada v Wales game at Cardiff's Millenium Stadium is SOLD OUT AND it's not on tv tonight :( I'm super pissed about that! I even wore my Canada Rugby jersey today ha ha!

You can listen to the game here though, courtesy of the Wales Rugby Union website

We had hoped to beat Wales in the RWC 2003, but Wales stood up and hammered us and then went on to have a not-as-bad-as-expected World Cup.

Prestwick @ Fri Nov 17, 2006 6:17 pm

I think that while Canada were undeniably hammered 61 points to 26. Remember the last time the two sides met (last year) it was a 60 point drubbing.

This points to two things. Firstly that Canada are still quite weak at the scrum and in defence generally. And secondly that Canada has learnt the skills needed to create chances and score points. Every time Canada went into the Welsh half, they came away with points.

Problem was that they were hemorrhaging points. There were allot of missed tackles, intercepted passes and even the occasional turnover ball. All of this stacks up in the end and Canada paid dearly for it.

That said, its not all doom and gloom. If Rugby Canada develops at the rate its going now, it'll be at the standard Italy are currently at now within a decade or so. And that is sterling progress for what was a rugby minnow.

I think Italy really want to make it a very physical contest. That looks like a heavyweight Itallian pack there. Canada should be wary.

Kieran Cowley, former New Zealand All Black, is now the head coach of the Canada Squad!

This can only mean exciting things. Well done to Canadian Rugby for landing a star ex-player from the world's best team!

Can't wait to see what he does with them.
