You wouldn't recognise the Intercity area now. All Box store'd up now.

Across the street from Intercity Mall (east) has been totally developed into box stores like Home Depot, Marks Work Warehouse, Home Sense, The Brick, Canadian Tire etc.

Yeah they still have the CLE every summer......although I haven't been there in 15 years or so.
I should take a few shots with my BlackBerry some time and post them. The Marina is getting redone now. Huge development with Condos and hotels etc.

It all sounds good. I'd heard that things had gone downhill a bit, don't know if that's true or not.

Thunder Bay has always had it's own little economy because it's a regional centre. The paper mills have definitely taken a beating in the last couple of years and Bowater (Great Lakes) has just downsized a bit more but still chugging along. The University is expanding like crazy along with some huge research types of business. We have a Medical school here now too. You wonder where the money is coming from but the city keeps growing. I think more of the younger people are sticking around now too.
I just bought a new house this week which was probably bush when you were still here. It's behind the Canadian Tire on Arthur St. next to the old Kmart.
