Well they can't roll the clock back and expect regulators to not hold them to standards they had previously held. The EU will strait up ban ANY platform, including google, that thinks otherwise. This is why the right wing imitator platforms can't get traction, they are a boring circle jerk of like minded sycophants who feed off of controversy and are unable to create sustaining and compelling content to anyone outside of their circle. It's like trying to monetize 4chan, who is your market besides the Trolls that are grifting you?

This is why 'safe spaces' exist to begin with. Social media needs controversy to attract eyeballs but it also needs to be a market that is safe for commerce, not right think. Otherwise you are just reinventing the wheel and there are now tons of different options out there if no standards or substandard/inconstant standards are applied.

Just ask One America news how much of a market is out there, that type of grift just isn't sustainable and will eat itself.

Elon publicly threatening the CEO of apple, cool and normal.

It's like the idea that not doing something with your money is speech, never occurs to him.

Ad boycotts never last very long though. Both Hobby Lobby and Chick Fil A are still doing gangbusters despite whatever shutdown campaigns the alphabet people launched against them. I'm fairly certain that anyone, for example, who got pissed off at Colin Kaepernick went back to being NFL-stans a very long time ago. It's not like any of that "freedom fries" sort of mentality exists for much longer than a brief spleen venting. Any ad loss hit Musk takes in the short term at Twitter won't even be a blip on the graph when the yearly results come in this time in 2023, especially not when he can counter right now that new memberships have wildly increased since the SJW squad that used to run the company has been run out of town altogether.

Twitter has lost 50% of its advertisers and the company never made money to begin with. He's not going to make it back by threatening the biggest company on earth with showcasing how twitter is now open to only Hitler-lovers and fascists.

Twitter position in the Apple and Google aps stores was grandfathered in before the terms and conditions currently enforced and was held in place due to the size and clout of the platform.

That clout is cut in half with the ads gone and the user base is still large but how much is bots? Apple and Google could very well cut the chord unless they enforce SOME level of moderation and not the burning dumpster fire it is currently and Elon knows it. It's not that Apple and Google want to do this, it's that they will be FORCED to do it if they want access to major markets like the EU.

Elon does not understand power coupons yet.

Scape @ Mon Nov 28, 2022 7:16 pm

He is turning Twitter into 4chan. The platform will only have toxic fans and bots left and no brand will be caught buying ads on it least the be associated with white power tropes.

Let's see how much money he lights on fire.

xerxes @ Mon Nov 28, 2022 7:46 pm

Hopefully all of it. I wanna see that wannabe edgelord crash and burn.

DrCaleb @ Mon Nov 28, 2022 7:55 pm

Except Tesla. I don't want to be holding the bag on that stock.

There's been no noticeable decrease in the number of lefties on Twitter. All that's happened so far is that some of the more notable Antifa types got banned for advocating violence which they've been doing non-stop, and getting away with, for the better part of the past six years since Trump got elected. The only other ones on the left who have missing are some of the Hollywood types quitting as some sort of "look at me! look at me!" protest in order to validate their cred with the fellow travellers.

All in all it's pretty much the same as it ever was. Musk can probably more than afford the loss of ad revenue in the short term anyway so all he really has to do is wait for them to come back. And they surely will over the next few months.
