So, people living abroad, what kinds of Canadian things do you miss that you can't get in your new home?
Smarties! Apparently they don't have them in Arizona.
I know my boyfriend (who is American (from Arizona and Massachusetts) but living here) who is a huge hockey fan couldn't find or get a lot of hockey jerseys and such in places like Arizona especially.
It's usually never anything big, but a number of small things that make a difference. Some say Tim's coffee and I can see that, although I find if you're in North America you can find something pretty close. When I lived in Memphis getting a cool drink of water out of the tap is something I missed. If you're overseas it may be harder to have things like home available. Oddly it's when I hear the CBC Newsworld music on the plane coming home, when I finally feel I'm back.

Should'nt this thread be moved into the Expat section of the site?
bossdog, I hear you about missing speaking english?
What I really miss is family ... there is no substitute period.
I agree it should be in the Expat section. I was wondering when I posted actually, why it was in Canadian Culture lol...
Oh yeah, I think I miss my family too... haha.
I have to go to Sarajevo for my peanut butter and KD. They have this good stuff in the American PX there. Wonder bread is another biggie. I love fresh bread and all but I'm getting a little tired of having to buy a new loaf every two days.
The only time I miss my family is at christmas. I got more than my fill of them when we went back to Canada this summer lol
