If any of you have seen Food Network shows like "You Gotta Eat Here," "Eat Street" and "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives", you get the idea...have any 'must visit' food trucks, restaurants, hot dog carts, greasy spoons etc to share with your fellow CKA'ers?

In Edmonton, there is a similar joint: Pampas;

All they season with is a little salt, and the charcoal they bring in from Brazil.

If you EVER go to The Netherlands, eat a Kroket, or bitterballen (every 'snackbar' has them).
For a restaurant, Sante in Wijk aan Zee (near IJmuiden, about 30 minutes outside of Amsterdam). AWESOME.

Anything on the Leidseplein in Amsterdam (for the potheads: the Bulldog. Well, well, whaddayaknow, they are in Canada too! http://www.thebulldog.com/cafes/canada :lol: )

I'd like to host one of those Food Network shows. I'd call it "Beyond Hope: Restaurant Horrorshow".
Right after I open a diner called "Chinese and Western Food", copyright the name and make $10 billion in lawsuits.

My favourite little joint in Toronto is a place called Commisso's Bakery. It's an Italian grocery right around the corner from my sister's place (Keele & Eglinton). Their pasta's excellent, but I recommend the veal on a bun with peppers and sauce. [drool] But get in and get out quickly. The place has been a mafia hotspot for decades and gets blown up every once in a while, whenever the mob wars heat up.

My favourite place is Zakkushi - a Japanese BBQ restaurant. If you have never had yakitori, then you are missing out!

The last time we went to Vancouver, we found this place and it was amazing.

While some of the menu items sound a little strange, have an open mind and try a little bit of everything. Then when you find out what you like, go to town!

Best of all for you BF, they just opened a new location in Toronto on Carlton (193 Carlton St, Toronto, ON, M5A 2K7).

Spitting distance from an old apartment I used to live in! Man I miss that neighbourhood....lots of good eats there!

I'll offer up a 'must have' for Toronto: The Peameal bacon sandwich from Carousel Bakery in St. Lawrence Market
