I just heard that, due to heavy rains and flooding in Indonesia, they are afraid of water born diseases. Lets see. They are being deluged with some of the purest water available anywhere and they are having trouble getting clean drinking water? Duhhh!
The rain is clean, but like in Indonesia after the tsunami, it the rotting corpses, chemicals and untreated sewage that contaminate the water.

There are no rotting corpses in rainwater caught on a poly tarp. Perhaps instead of sending in grandiose schemes of water treatment systems they could be sent tarps and containers, or would that be too intelligent for the bureaucrats making the decisions?
In the north, where freezing is a problem, catchment tanks would have to be indoors , or well underground , which shouldn't be much of a problem. Cielings would be insulated, and in warmer weather trap doors to the attic can be opened to allow warm inside air to the attic to melt snow off the roofs to enable it to fill the storage tanks.
The problem is, there isn't much money for the corporate people who give the government its advice, in a catchement system, so it probably will be advised against.

Brent Brent
