stratos stratos:
Still the flu in 2019 has infect approximately 20X more people and amazingly killed 20X more people around the world.

^^^

An average flu season seems to have a much higher hospitalization and death rate.

As it spreads I think the numbers will hold steady vs the flu. 10-20 years from now there will be no panic. People will act just like they do for the flu. 50-60 years from now people will wonder why we made such a big deal about this.

A lot of the CDC and other health organizations suggested precautions are very similar to dealing with sever flu season.

One of the offices near my office was closed this morning. Friggin' parking lot was mostly empty because most of them are working from home today.

It was kind of eerie to see this.

We call that a 'snow day'. ;)

Happens more and more often, if people have the ability to work from home when they need to.

Any time we have an event on site half the staff works from home.

BartSimpson @ Thu Feb 27, 2020 11:47 am

I wonder if this is why they're working from home?

$1:
CBS2 has learned hundreds of people are being monitored for possible coronavirus exposure in New York state. The Health Department says 700 people in the state have been asked to voluntarily self-isolate for two weeks. That includes 83 people in Nassau County, 29 in Suffolk County and eight in Westchester. It’s important to point out there are no confirmed cases here, and no one in New York City or in New Jersey is being monitored.

I also prefer to avoid the office's annual Random Shooting Day.

For us an event is a concert, or some sort of large gathering that an outside group has paid to use a portion of the facility and parking lot.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
Shit.
Also, thank you for your contribution to the topic.
No problem! I get a kick out of watching so many people go crazy over fake news and an increasingly obvious globalist conspiracy to keep the animals contained while the bankers cash in.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
In other news this shit has hit my hometown of Sacramento.
Someone was at UC Davis Medical Center for eight days before they diagnosed him/her with COVID19. They cannot find any link between this person and China and consider it the first native case of the disease.
The Russian collusion is spreading:
33 People Tested Positive For Coronavirus in California - Governor Newsom

Whelp, our company just sent a memo:

• Travel is not permitted until further notice to:
o Mainland China
o Hong Kong
o Singapore
o Italy
o South Korea
o Iran

And our travel system won't book tickets to those places without VP authorization.

There goes my weekend.

They should probably add California to the list. :|

So our Governor gets on TV announces there's 33 people in the state who have the bug and another 8400 being monitored. The Guv tells people to prepare and get ready.

What's our division management's response?

They stuck their heads in the sand and have ordered everyone to stop any business continuity or disaster recovery preparations and "focus on your work."

I'm back to my "Fuck Management" posture and if I get ordered to go home I'll take the administrative time off and get paid to play BF4 instead of doing any actual work.

No biggie to me.

Watch the first episode of Fear The Walking Dead as a guidepost and warm up the Solothurn while you're at it. Oh, it's on!

Having a national plan is better than not having a national plan. The Australians have published theirs:

https://www.health.gov.au/sites/default ... d-19_1.pdf

Where are we with that?
