Because there are people that still believe it's true. You have to go through the process to show it isn't. Then if they continue to believe, well, studies can't fix stupid.

Yup. But more statistics means more confidence in the results. If the drug does no harm, there is no reason not to try. I doubt there is any need for more trials though.

Doesn't matter if they do or don't accept the results. The results still stand. The Earth is a spheroid, Trump lost the election, and de-worming medicine does not help with the recovery from a virus.
