Yeah we watched that show. Sorta frightening.

wildrosegirl @ Wed Apr 16, 2014 7:00 pm

'Tis. Even more frightening is that the vast majority disregard the information and carry on.

I've posted a couple times about it before, here's the links. You might also find this program on eztv.it. Sometimes the 'Marketplace' shows are posted to torrent sites.

It's not funny if I have to explain them. :P

And I dislike Stevia's aftertaste. I stick to liquid sucralose when I do need sweetening.

andyt @ Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:24 am

I've just started using it, and find it works very well. A couple of days and it just tastes normal to me. Sucralose, the powdered version, is the one with the taste I can't stand. Plus it seems to give me headaches, and doesn't sound like it's all that safe. Better than diabetic coma for you I guess.

desertdude @ Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:26 am

Well I just read little of the articles and nothing really shocking in them, maybe they dont tell the whole story, but there is so much out there we eat which is equally as dangerous.

And artifical sweetners like sucralose themselves are pretty funky

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/artic ... ngers.aspx

Try using honey instead

andyt @ Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:31 am

Honey is basically sugar. Not much to gain there. Stevia seems to be safe, but then at one time they said the same thing about sucralose. Best is if you can just go without adding sugar to your food.

That might have been shocking if I hadn't read Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us last year;

http://www.amazon.ca/Salt-Sugar-Fat-Gia ... 1400069807

I highly recommend it!

andyt @ Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:43 am

Well, fat has been dedemonized to be replaced by sugar. Some people saying that salt isn't as bad as made out to be, and the recommended amounts may be too low (still less than most people eat). I gave up giving much of a shit long ago. If there's a substitute out there that works for me, like stevia, I'll use it, otherwise I can't be bothered to worry about it. Just move your body, eat mostly fresh food, and you should be OK? Mostly these are first world worries, like the articles about how there's germs everywhere.

Zipperfish @ Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:46 am

Eat mostly plants. Avoid processed food. Old advice is usually sage advice.

Sugar is an addiction.

What to really believe anyway? Alarmists all!
"Coffee is good for you. OOps! Coffee is bad for you!. OOps again! Coffee won't harm you at all"!
"Now eggs, that's another matter completely. They're really bad for you! Oops again! Further study reveals that eggs aren't harmfull at all"!

Salt, sugar, fat, etc. Whatever can garner the 'researchers' some $$$ is going to be 'the cause of the day'.

Too much of anything, (well, maybe except tail  )is no good for you. We all need a certain amount of water daily to survive. Stand in front of your kitchen sink, or water cooler, and start chug a lugging water and you will find out very soon that it is quite deadly. Someone WILL find you laying dead upon the floor!

Common sense and all things in moderation. NEWS FLASH: We are all going to die!
