Ahh...all the Canucks trying so hard to get Tyler Motte his hat trick with New York's goalie pulled but no luck.

New Jersey at Vancouver

71

Devils (26-36-9) at Canucks (29-32-9)

The Vancouver Canucks will try to win consecutive games for the first time in almost two months when they host the New Jersey Devils at Rogers Arena on Friday.

The Canucks haven't won two in a row since Jan. 18 and 20. They are 6-11-3 since and 10 points behind the Arizona Coyotes for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.

Canucks forward Brock Boeser has five points (two goals, three assists) in a four-game point streak.

Eriksson replaces Rousel, who sustained a season-ending knee injury during a 4-1 win against the New York Rangers on Wednesday.

Hughes, who signed with the Canucks on Sunday after his season at the University of Michigan ended, has a bone bruise, is in a walking boot and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Pettersson has no goals and five assists in his past 11 games.

That was too bad, losing in the shoot-out.

I must say though, that in general, the 3-on-3 OT tends to be my favorite part of any game and almost a reason to hope a game goes to OT. This one between the Canucks and NJ was very exciting to watch with both teams having excellent chances.

True dat...

You almost have to wonder if whole games of 3 on 3 hockey might work.

The players would get pooped out pretty quick though. They'd have to be short games.

Nah, not whole games.

I wouldn't mind if the playoff OT was in that format though.

Good to see the win even if it took the shoot-out to get the 2 points. We need all the points we can get at this point of the season.

We are not mathematically out yet. [boxing]

WTH was with that penalty shot of Pettersson's?

Hyack @ Mon Mar 18, 2019 5:02 pm

It was a missed call.....goalie threw his stick, it should have been a goal!!

Vancouver at Chicago

73

Canucks (30-32-10) at Blackhawks (32-30-9)

The Chicago Blackhawks will look for their sixth straight win when they play the Vancouver Canucks at United Center on Monday.

Vancouver, which is 4-6-3 in its past 13 games, is on the second half of a back to back after a 3-2 shootout win against the Dallas Stars on Sunday.

The Canucks are eight points behind the Coyotes.

Canucks forward Elias Pettersson has 60 points (27 goals, 33 assists) and can set a Vancouver record for points by a rookie. Ivan Hlinka (1981-82) and Pavel Burke (1991-92) each had 60 points as rookies.

The Canucks did not have a morning skate after playing in Dallas on Sunday.

Boeser has seven points (two goals, five assists) in a six-game point streak.

Game time 5:30pm PT

Strutz @ Mon Mar 18, 2019 9:45 pm

Awesome to see the win in OT. Too bad that we had to give up a point to Chicago as the race is tight n the west for a wildcard spot.

Good on Pettersson for his 61st point setting new rookie record for the Canucks.

Ottawa at Vancouver

Senators (25-41-6) at Canucks (31-32-10)

Vancouver is six points behind the Arizona Coyotes for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the West with nine games left in their regular season.

The Canucks, who are starting a seven-game home stand, are 3-0-1 in their past four games and can match their longest winning streak of the season with a third straight victory.

Canucks forward Brock Boeser has eight points (two goals, six assists) during a seven-game point streak.

Canucks coach Travis Green said Hutton, who will miss his eighth game, will resume skating in the next couple of days, and Hughes, who hasn't skated since signing his entry-level contract March 10, will be re-evaluated later Wednesday.

Horvat has six points (two goals, four assists) in his past five games after no points the previous five.

N_Fiddledog @ Wed Mar 20, 2019 9:10 pm

When the Canucks are playing more or less healthy we see how close they are to what they'll be soon.

5-2 Van right now, with 10 minutes left to play.

N_Fiddledog @ Wed Mar 20, 2019 9:40 pm

Ok, they let the Sens back in it and looked like they were heading for a massive choke loss going from 5-0 to 5-4 but I stand by my point. Bo comes in at the last minute (literally almost) and saves the day - shattering Ottawa's comeback hopes.

We go from drafting 5th to drafting 9th with the 3 game win streak though.

Like the streak. Not a fan of drafting 9th over 5th. Oh well, Calgary's coming up next and they're hot. Maybe they can help us out with a better draft position.
