Tricks, you are not rolling with my shit either, why should I roll with yours? I am not even telling you want to do, I am not even sharing my own opinion, and you are offended by me.

Yeah, I know, I am being a passive aggressive bitch just to make a point. I have that right, ya know, whether you like it or not.

Gunnair Gunnair:

Fuck sakes, untwist your fucking panties here, Tricks. And before you get told to go fuck your self after the huge amount of words you just put in my mouth, re read my fucking post.

In general, there is no need to be a fucking cock on a whim simply because you have the right. Had you asked me what I thought about this particular situation instead of knee jerking yourself into a fucking lather here, I would have said that this particular piece or artistic expression falls under pushing the limits of freedom of expression in a responsible way to encourage a public discourse.

Had you not fucking knee jerked yourself into a lather and read the examples I gave vice the topic at hand, you'd see there was very little to compare. One is an artistic expression meant to create a public discourse while the others are merely examples of being a fucking douche. I would expect you can see the difference, but I've been known to be wrong before.

Now, are you fucking done working that big knot into your face or what?

You'll notice I did ask you. And that I did say I do not believe that's what you meant. But nontheless, I apologize, it seemed like you were suggesting a comparison between being a complete asshole and taking a picture. I can agree that you don't need to go running into a room and start insulting everyone. But frankly, that argument has no weight or bearing in this situation, so I'm not sure why it is even happening.

Here's an idea, how about everyone stops being so fucking stuck up and just rolls with shit.

Buddy, read and heed your last line and ask yourself if you and your explosive fit of pique fit into this category. Or is it for everyone but you?

The difference is I'm not offended. Being angry over something =/= being offended.

Baking!

Why not? We're discussing free speech and freedom of expression and the exercising of their limits. Threads ramble around the topic at hand here all of the time.

Alright then that's my bad. I thought we were talking in the context of the article. That's why I was so outraged. If it isn't, then consider this a back peddle. (Blood pressure slowly dropping)

The limits of freedom of speech should be what is in the charter, i.e. no inciting of violence and nothing obscene (child porn and such).

Exercising it, people should be able to express their opinions whenever they want, however they want. But that same person will also be judged, and treated differently accordingly. That's how I've always found it. If someone sits at a table and starts insulting each person there, they aren't going to have many friends. If that's their choice, so be it.

Nope, I was legit fuming. The thought of any response other than flipping the saudis the bird made me far angrier than I have been in a long time. If that continued on much longer, I guarantee I would have got a warning. I rewrote my posts a few times before posting to prevent that.

I'm saddened by how much political correctness and the fear of offense is stifling free expression and how willing people are to go along with it.

Sooraya Graham produced the image and presented it earlier this year for a class assignment as part of her fine arts degree at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops.

Not long after it had been hung in the school hallway, she overheard a woman who also wears a head scarf saying she had peeled the artwork off the wall.

That decision inadvertently put the photograph into greater public view, and has now generated debate about cultural misconceptions, community representation and censorship.

"I have a lot to express," Graham said in an interview Thursday, explaining she wanted to remind people that Muslim women wear undergarments too.

"Even though some people want to silence those thoughts or make them go away, we live in Canada where as long as we're not hurting another individual we have that right to express ourselves."

The 24-year-old photographer, who grew up in small town Northern B.C. and has been studying at the B.C. Interior institution for several years, said the reaction was unexpected.

"I found it really intrusive," she said of the unilateral move to censor her work.

"There are things I encounter in the world I don't like or I don't agree with, but I would never take something down."

Graham turned over a business card left by the alleged culprit to the chair of her visual arts program after the mid-March incident. When he asked the woman to return the image, she at first refused to do so without an agreement the photo would not be posted up again, Graham said.

Eventually, administrators retrieved the photo without making any deals. Graham learned the woman had been acting on behalf of several non-fine arts students who had been offended by the image. The university said the woman took the action on her own accord.
