New plans to help immigrants integrate into Cdn. society
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/ ... lgary.html
$1:
Children of immigrants could integrate better if they grew up in a community that does not resemble their parents' homeland, Canada's immigration minister said Friday in Calgary.
Jason Kenney also said it's a challenge to get immigrants to fit into society when only one-quarter of them take advantage of free language training.
Hell, we've got people whose families have been living in Canada for centuries, that can't speak English and refuse to fit into Canadian society. For every new immigrant that integrates well, we should ship off one of the domestic malcontents.
$1:
'We want people to be Canadians first and foremost — to be proud of and maintain their own tradition and heritage, but not at the price of developing their Canadian identity.'
—Jason Kenney, minister of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism

The CBC reader comments section is full of the usual "death to Alberta" and "Kenney is a racist" nonsense from the usual Liberal/NDP kool-aid drinking suspects. Yeah, what a horrible racist thing it is to suggest that immigrants try giving a damn about being part of Canada instead of setting up some sort of bunkered and isolated Taliban-north ghetto just like back home.
How about we keep the immigrants and start deporting the dumb-fuck liberal relativists from the "white-is-evil" "Canada-must-always-apologize" fringe instead?
Kennypunksport?
About time they started to address the issue

Canadians don't address issues, they talk and stew about it and let it fade away tossing it into the closet.
One thing that is able to be solved is to not let anybody in who doesn't speak English....or for some reason they want, French. It's actually a pretty simple solution but as good Canadians, we don't want to 'alienate' the potentials who want to live here.

That is on the list of points for someone who wants to immigrate.
The problem comes up in family class, no requirements at all.
This is the part that needs to be changed.

It was worded in an odd way. Not sure where you're seeing these "Ghettos", all I see are communities. You'll be hard pressed to find an age where Immigrants didn't group together. These communities actually help Immigrants to integrate, by making the transition more palpable.

When, all of a sudden, did it become a priority to make integration easy? It shouldn't be easy. It should be HARD to become a Canadian. I've being trying to be a good Canadian for 40 years. I've put a lot of energy into it.
But, if we want PRACTICAL integration, every new immigrant should have to sign up for beer-league hockey (or puck-bunny, as gender would have it).
more palpable ????????
fuck that noise, if they didnt WANT to come to Canada, then kick them home.
thats worded even worse...
oh and for the record, the ghettos dont help people integrate,
it prevents them from doing so.

What ghettos?
ghetto in the classic usage, as in ethnic enclave.

your English lesson for the day..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GhettoA ghetto is described as a "portion of a city in which members of a minority group live; especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure."

Going to have to disagree with you there. The ghettos do not make it easier for people to integrate because ghettos promote isolation instead of integration. As a rule of thumb (from history and current events) ghettos = bad relations between racial and religious groups
