I remember once wanting to write "peach" and actually spelling it "pĂȘche".

That isn't misspelling something. Writing it peech or pech is.

True. At least with French many words are just spelled differently from the English word, so when you see them it is easy to recognize what they are in English. Plus, many of us have some degree of knowledge of the French language anyway so if you slip now and then raydan most of us will know what you mean.

The one that drives me nuts is when they use "ur" for "your".

u = you, r = are, I get that. "ur" is short for "you are", or even "you're". But "your" is a different goddamn word and "you are" ain't how you say it. FUCK THAT AGGRAVATES ME!

ShepherdsDog @ Thu Jul 26, 2012 8:19 pm

your is pronounced(yore) and you're should be pronounced (yoor). It pisses me off when I hear people turning them into homophones.

Yeah but that's due to muscle memory when you type as opposed to people actually not knowing any better.

I disagree, I see it too many times from too many different people, and they make the same mistake over and over again.

Back to the short form stuff, the irony in all of this is for me anyway was my history teacher actually encouraged us to take notes like that wayyyy back in 1982.
Why write 12th Century when you write C12 or 12C?
Even he would look for short forms of words in verbal communications. One of my personal favourites was instead of saying "Queen Elizabeth the Second" all the time, he shortened it to "Lizzie the Two'th"
