Unfortunately the real-world cost of items like that overwhelms the grand dreams. When it costs $5 million to pave a kilometer of blacktop, and every centimeter of it gets challenged in court by an environmental group, it becomes impossible to get almost anything done aside from simple maintenance on what previous generations have already built.

Canada's skipped the grandeur stage altogether, as opposed to the Europeans or even the Americans. We went right from youth to the dubious joys of self-indulgent ennui. Canada's the equivalent of some greying Baby Boomer with a pony-tail wistfully staring out the window at his $3 million lake house holding a cup of chickory in his hand contemplating why his first three marriages just didn't work out, not quite proud of his life's achievements but still not self-reflective enough to take any responsibility at all for how his children turned out completely fucked up & unhappy.

While I am definitely no separatist, I think BC and Alberta should be using their economic clout to enforce their constitutionally protected powers.

Ford is invoking the notwithstanding to cheat on elections so anything is possible.

The problem is that there is no good choice for PM, Trudeau, O'Toole, Singh all are weak leaders.

There are no Layton's, Pearson's, or Mulroney's in any of the parties ranks. This is the dark age of Canadian Politics.

Doesn't help when one party refuses to admit there is a climate problem. A lot of Canadians will not vote for them on that alone.

When you have a weak left and a weak right, the center is going to win the majority of the time, and currently that's run by someone who's weak himself. If conservatives stopped their usa brand of crazy then we might see some hustle out of the liberals.

Because there isn't. Put down the Kool-Aid long enough to study natural weather and planetary cycles that planet Earth has had since it was formed, and you might learn something. Supreme human arrogance dictates that we know everything there is to know about Earth, even though the planet has been around for billions of years, and humans only a tiny fraction of that.

Are we contributing in a very small part to what's going on? Yes, but it's miniscule. The people in charge are running around screaming like Chicken Little while raising your taxes, adding carbon taxes, and claiming we should all be dead by now. Billionaires are getting richer off nonsense like this.

Most of the human race are being duped, big time.

Literally nothing to back up your bullshit, as per usual.
