OH MAN I CANT HANDLE THE THOUGHT OF 4 MORE YEARS

I am so fed up with this country and their abuse and bastardization of Christianity. I am sick of Bush and the fact that everything he does benefits the rich and the privledged. I am sick of our rampant capitalism.

What the hell can I do. My wife and I are socialists and she has a masters degree in genetic counseling. I have to imagine that should help.

What steps could I take to help us move to Canada.....I dont even know where to start :(

Would I be more accepted in Canada as a socialist?

Any help would be appriciated.......I am in despair at the moment

First, I would suggest looking at this website: Citizenship and immigration Canada

Depending on what you do for a living, your chances change. The best bet would be to try an line up a job before trying to move. That way, your employer can help speed the process up somewhat. Otherwise it can take some time. (by which I mean years)

The best advice I can offer is plan it out. Do some research as to where your particular career is in demand. Also decide where you would want to live. If you're a socialist, then I would avoid Alberta. Also be mindful of climate. Where I live (on the west coast) it's been warm lately, but the rain has been Biblical in proportion, whereas in the east it's been 30 below for a while.

By the way, if you're socilaist, you will be accepted in Canada. People don't care too much about party affiliations up here.

That is one of the hard parts. I grew up in an East Detroit suburb with a 6% high school -> college graduation rate. Basically if you wanted to go to college from there you were screwed. I have been trying accomplish this since I was 18 and it is a VERY SLOW process as I am 24 now. This is one f the reasons I dislike this country is lack of educational achievement if you were not born in the right place.

However I met my wife in Georgia and she has a masters in genetic counseling. So until I finish my long road to education I am not very economically viable. However I would have to think that she is. My question is if she got a job here....would I be allowed to work also? And would I be able to recieve citizenship?

Hope these questions are not too hard.

Check with immigration, but if your wife moves here to work I believe you can get fast-tracked. If you don't have much education but have experience in the construction trades, that's booming right now in several parts of the country. We're also perpetually short of qualified auto-techs. That's just to give a couple of examples of areas of work where a traditional college education isn't needed.

As for being a socialist...not a problem. We have mixed socialist/capitalist economy up here, despite attempts by the radical right to dismantle it.

Check out the link that xerxes mentioned. There is some pretty good info there. There are also consultants available that will help you out, but they charge a fee. The best bet is for your wife to get a job before moving though. Most large companies will help with the immigration. Some will even assist the spouse in getting work.

I took the test in the first mentioned above link and i believe you needed a 66....well we got a 67.

This definitly helps and we will continue to look into it. I look forward to the day when I can say I am a Canadian. That may take a few years.....but not all plans are fast plans.
