The other night Dan Rather of CBS spoke of a vigilante organisation that nips potential child abusers in the bud, whose mission statement says:

"To root out and bring to light those who would use the internet as a way to sexually abuse children, to brighten the darkened corner of the internet from which they wish to prey upon small children."

and

IT'S WRONG TO WANT TO FUCK LITTLE KIDS!

The clip shown was great. These sickos go online and chat up what they think is a child, it's not of course, but these perverts don't know that. Arrangements are made for a meet and the nutter shows up.

Who's there to greet him? The folks from this organisation with spotlights on and cameras rolling. You had to see these wankers run, and run they did, back to their cars where they stared stupidly into the camera often trying to cover their faces with little success. As the dangerous fools drove off at high rates of speed and cameras still rolling, the licence plate numbers were there front and center for all to see.

Gotta hand to these folks.

Take a look at their page:

"IT'S WRONG TO WANT TO FUCK LITTLE KIDS!"

I think right there is where a lot of people screw up. It is a biological drive that people have, to want to have sex. It is natural for boys to want to fuck girls. It is unfortunate that little girls can sometimes look so fuckable. It is wrong for older guys to act upon their impulses to fuck little girls. The Canadian government, incidently, make the distinction as being under 14 years old.

Anyhow, I would say a more succinct assesment of the situation would result in the heading, "IT IS WRONG TO ACT UPON THE IMPULSE TO FUCK LITTLE KIDS."

And as for screwing somebody's life up because they have a problem like that; that is just as sick.

karra @ Sat Mar 06, 2004 8:23 am

fig, the biological drive is not disputed, but we have laws to protect children that are not terribly dissimilar in modern civilisation.

However, if you read some of the internet chat these wack jobs engage in you'll quickly notice there is nothing impulsive about it at all. They stalk. Period. They're sick and can't control this inane desire to have man/child relationships all the while knowing how society views and deals with it.

The idiots caught on camera were perfectly normal looking men, all well over the age of 21. To see them, you'd wonder why they don't have a girlfriend or wife on their arm and who knows, maybe they do.

If this organisation got more attention and I think it should there might be a reduction in this type of behaviour. Although I'm sure the nutters would be quick to find another and more ingenious method of practising their perverted trade.

At least they don't appear to be an organized lot of perverts yet, unlike an incredibly high number of paedophiles.

the mind.

I see the ads about it in the Hotmail thing and I think, "Jeez, there goes a few million dollars and man hours after a dozen chickenshit guys who are chasing some well worn teenage tail."

I mean, these young people have parents. First of all, they should control how their kids behave on the 'net. Second of all, they should control how their kids behave when not on the 'net. If they aren't in control of their children than they are more at fault than anyone else. That's my bottom line on the subject. Don't blame the bear because it ate the roast you left outside to cool.

Maybe I'm too Mayberry, I dunno.

Very sad.

If I could get away with it I would stalk these sick pricks too, mind you with a gun. Regardless of nature's impulses, kids are kids and aren't to be thought of as sex objects. The fact that our laws do state that 14 is the age where a mature decision can be mad is sickening. Let a 30 something dude come stalk my daughter when she's 14 and there will be hell to pay, A lesson would be taught, and the same lawmakers would lovk me up for life for doing it. But there are worse places to be for less.

I agree with figfarmer that parents have a responsibility to keep an eye on their children's activities, particularly online. However, I also have no problem in shaming those adults who attempt to prey on children.

Twila @ Sat Mar 06, 2004 9:18 pm

slightly related to both Othello and Figfarmer's post about parents knowing what their children are doing. A elementary school teacher here in Richmond BC had to tell the parents of the kindergarten students that it was unacceptable for their kids to wear thongs underwear to school. The reason she knew they were wearing these types of undergarments? Because the students had then pulled up over the waiste band of their pants.

It is the responsibility of the parents to make sure their kids are dressed like little kids and not like young women or porn stars (seen those shirts that read porn star on many a young child) It is the responsibility of ALL OF US to see that nothing bad happens to children.

We could medically take care of perverts who pray on young children. It's a surgical procedure that would remove all drive for sex. Might work better then the "registry".

I like the idea that those people have about filming the perverts though. Those people are taking responsibility for the children of their community.

Whup the men who get the kids. Whup the kids for letting them. Most of all, whup the parents who don't pay any attention to their kids until they seek attention elsewhere, then take the kids away from them.

polemarch1 @ Sun Mar 07, 2004 9:16 am

Should parents pay more attention to there kids? Yes. But even the most vigilant parent is going to miss something. I think it's a great idea that they decided to expose these perverts to the community. Now the parents have something else to watch out for, they know who these people are.

ChrissyP @ Sun Mar 07, 2004 10:49 am

It has very little to do with sex. People who prey on children crave the power kick they get when they abuse children. It's all about the power, and children are easy to take power from. It's the same with pretty much all forms of abuse. Sex drive has nothing to do with it. Take away the sexdrive and the need for the power kick remains. We live in a sick sick world. You want to prevent child abuse?? Lets stop raising people who become abusers. Take parenting seriously for pete's sake. Protect your children so they are never scarred by an experience that they will never have leave them. And before someone starts yelping about abused people becoming abusers. Yes it's true the vast majority of abuse victims never turn out to be abusers. However most abusers were abused in their childhood. There is my two cents.

But even if you're over 14 you can't have sex with anyone more than 4 years older than you, so even if someone was over 14 they couldn't have sex with a 19 yearold or older.

Really? I knew that with rapists it was about power. But had watched a show about pedophiles that claimed that it was due to their physical attraction to little kids. Course there could be 2 types of pedophiles. Too bad, thought I was onto the easy solution to protecting kids from the degenerates.

If what ChrissyP says is true then I'd like to change my response from removing their testicles to removing the frontal portion of their brain. I vote frontal labotomy.

ChrissyP @ Sun Mar 07, 2004 11:25 am

One way to deal with them is to be aware of who they are. There are several in my area and you better believe parents know not to ever let their children be alone for even a moment with any of these people. Even in Peace River they are starting to wake up to the fact that we seem to have a rather large amount of pedophiles in our area. Makes me a paranoid mom. But my child (soon to be children) will be safe. I know who to trust and who not to.

I know a pedophile who underwent treatment (he is not cured by any means). Even he will say it was all about the power and control very little of it had to do with sex.
