First long weekend of the summer, town filling with tourists. Sister coming to visit.
Too nice to cook, went to order a bucket of takeout chicken. Kitchen stopped cooking at 4:00.
Both pizza joints and the ice cream stand will be closed Sunday.

What is wrong with this fucking town?

Strutz @ Thu Jun 30, 2022 7:54 pm

Holy fuck herbie.

Staff shortages or supply shortages or both?

herbie @ Sat Jul 09, 2022 5:24 pm

Neither. Lazy ass fucktards who couldn't run a lemonade stand.

We switched back to charcoal a couple years back because we liked the flavour better than the propane thing. Wife worked at the supermarket and made them bring in this 'competition grade' charcoal that was really good.
Now all they have is tiny bags of matchlight for around $15, good for one BBQ if you like gasoline flavoured steak. 2 of them... supply chain my ass - they never even ordered any summer things this year.
The other three places all carry this Grill Time shit in $12 bags good for two cookouts. Crumbles in your hand, doesn't get hot enough to sear a burger, burns away in 20 minutes...
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!
Yet another reason to shop out of town.
*\
*remember those plastic pail & shovels you had as a kid? And bought a dozen of raising your kids? 3 years trying to find one and the wife brought one home last summer from the Dollar Store in Prince George. The beach is across the street from the shopping mall....

Fuck one of my kids needs to see a specialist. The one she was seeing is taking people from her area anymore. It’s been a while since she was there so they might consider her new and not take her. North Bay isn’t taking anyone from her area either. She may have to go to Barrie! If they decide she needs surgery that’s going to be a logical nightmare. She’s to the point that she wants surgery but is worried that a new doctor will make her go through an other round of the treatments that don’t work. Dam our health system is totally fucked. She’s my worrier she hasn’t even heard anything but that her doctor is trying to get her into the one she’s already seen and failing that it’s Barrie. But she has already started to plan out what she will do if things go wrong. Knowing her she will be on contingency plan E or F by now. It’s going to be hard to keep her worries in check over this one. Way too many variables and she’s already quoting stats!

She had half a dozen contingencies when she applied to university after college. She was an honour roll student and had been since the beginning of schooling!! But she was worried that they wouldn’t accept her! She even had a plan for if they didn’t accept her two years running!!! Bloody fucken hell this is going to be a rough one.

$25 for one fucking T-bone steak. Who the fuck can afford that?

Scape @ Mon Jul 25, 2022 4:10 pm

Fuck cancer.

RIP Lindsey.

Not the rancher who made $1 for it. Not the consumers. Gee I wonder WHO made that extra $24.00?

Strutz @ Mon Jul 25, 2022 9:52 pm

We only tend to only buy any type of meat when it's on sale and mostly the bigger packs. My partner today grabbed a "family pack" of 2 big steaks (mind you it was marinating inside round cuts), but $11.00/kg. Just over 1kg pkg and we can split it into 4 meal portions and vac-pack it. Good for a future beef stew or a stir fry with the right prep. According to the receipt we "saved" $13.97 as it cost only $11.84. Hard to know for sure if that's really a fucking savings or not.

Someone you know Scape?

The 2nd senior member of my team to die since covid lockdowns. (The other was a manager of a stroke). She was the supervisor that hired me 12 years ago. She got diagnosed stage 4 six months ago and had surgery to cut it out but it got to the lungs...

My condolences Scape. It always fucking sucks when someone we know checks out too soon.

Scape @ Tue Jul 26, 2022 6:28 pm

Way too soon, she was only 50 and in high sprits. It was only the last month of her passing did she even hint things were going south and at that point she could barley breath. Sadly, by the time she was diagnosed she knew it was all over and was just being brave for her kids.

herbie @ Tue Jul 26, 2022 7:15 pm

Yeah it sucks. My wife was told Stage 4 Tues morning and passed by Fri afternoon. How it took so damn long to diagnose is beyond me, they'd only concluded it was cancer a few weeks before.
We're finally holding her Celebration of Life this weekend.
Then immediately prepare for my daughter's twice Covid delayed wedding.
Fuck cancer!
