Wild dogs on reserves

The apartments were originally for police and army soldiers.
The current residents don't pay for the apartments, don't pay electricity, gas or water.
The garbagemen don't come because they get attacked if they do. So they don't,
simple solution.
There's one broken link for a picture, but the one of the mud-brick shacks... I can understand that poor people might have to live like that, but notice the ground is relatively clean.
The apartment building... apalling.
You're never too poor to clean up around your place if you have a little space. Not doing so just shows a complete lack of respect for yourself.

And your host country. Remember that the Roma don't see themselves as citizens of any country.
different cultures and their ideas about responsibility. The Japanese tend to be a lot tidier than the Chinese. Go out to a rural settlement in Japan and you usually find neat orderly villages If you go out into the 'Chinese' countryside you find refuse everywhere and weed and garbage choked lanes and ditches
Taiwan has made a marked improvement in the past few years when it comes to sewage and garbage disposal.....but this is mainly in the cities and in newer parts of the cities. Take a drive out into the country and you'll find plenty of unauthorized garbage 'dumps' pdq

or others personal possessions being anything else but theirs if they can get their dirty paws on them

Yeah. That's why I said "watch your pockets and your children".
They teach THEIR children at a very young age how to pick pocket...

It's important to remember that housing was provided to all under the
warm gauntlet of Socialism.
That shack's by choice.
Those apartments all came with hardwood floors, which were torn up and burned.
It's a complete lack of respect for yourself, and your surroundings.
I really hate our FNs being 'given' housing, because they develop no pride
of ownership.. hence, the run down conditions on reserves, and problems with dogs.
Seriously, they cant even deal with a small municipal problem like dogs ?
What, now we have to fly in dog catchers, or have 'whitey' running around
doing it for them ?
WTF ?
The parallels I see are not funny. There is a huge culture problem that needs
to be broken. And it isn't just the crackers.
How long will it take for Curtman to come in here and blame the amount of dogs on Stephen Harper?
true story....rez I taught on A dog was run over and and was screaming in pain. Band constables phoned the RCMP detachment to send someone over to shoot it.

There wouldn't be an issue of dogs on the reservations if pot were legalized. Then again, I best be wary, because Psudo may show up to challenge that assertion to a seven page back and forth until we discover what Reese peanut butter cups are getting smaller while Bodah may swing by for another once a week stop in to complain about something.
My...aren't you the belle with the balls.

Feet are sore from backpacking!
I worked doing HVAC for Sask housing installing furnaces in reserve housing...1 store in town and the garbage was 3 feet deep out the door and slowly got shallower towards the edge of town, dogs everywhere and waist deep grass in every yard...and this is on every reserve I went to.

When I read things like this, I always have an image in my head of a place with high grasses, cars rusting away, plastic every where, dirt on the ground. No one takes responsibility, no one cleans it up.
I may be wrong.

In regards to Canoe Lake, you are wrong, except they do have ground made of dirt
. My oldest son, who is Treaty, lives on his home reserve(not Canoe Lake.) He uses an old .22 to dispatch dogs that run around his house and shot dogs for the band a few years back. Nobody wants to do it because they don't like shooting dogs. Why I don't know, but they don't. He was raised by me and has no compunction against it.
