So much for a unified front like the environmentalists want us to believe. But it's good to see that there are bands out there willing to balance progress with fiscal responsibility and sane environmentalism.

Now we'll have to see how Mr. Dressup plays this one because if he sides with one native group he's sure as hell going to piss off the other one, a fact which won't look all that great on his indigenous rights resume. ROTFL

The Natives in support of development don't get any attention from the media because they're not the ones that are out there with the eco-fascists vandalizing construction equipment, attacking workers, or setting RCMP cruisers on fire. No bad behaviour equals no press coverage, thus allowing the one sided diatribe from the hard left to go unchallenged, which effectively gives them the public relations victory.

No because they're using an ass backwards unpopular point to move an agenda, that THEY own the ocean and should call the shots under the pretense of 'consultation'.
Don't delude yourself there's two sides because someone pointed to an insignificant handful. They're a minority among just the native Bands, a tiny minority overall.

And I will point out that a NEW pipeline and oil tanker traffic on the north coast is the exact opposite of sane environmentalism being pushed under the guise of 'fiscal responsibility'.
Unfortunately for you that think differently, the tanker ban and stoppage of Enbridge is the most popular decision the Trudeau Liberals have made in BC.
You can see part of that by the number of screaming idiots mad because he didn't cancel ALL the pipelines and ALL the tankers. Look at last week FIVE THOUSAND at the anti-KinderMorgan rally, TWO HUNDRED at the pro-pipe rally. 1 in 25, 4%. And that's over expanding an existing system. You actually think the ratio's even that big up here?

And Thanos, don't pull that 'media coverup because' shit. The media did cover it, because that's how you found out about it. The Lax'Kwalaam just decided to push harder now to make national headlines.
They've been whining on CBC Prince Rupert and all the regional newspapers for years.

In the end there's only one statistic that will matter in any of this and that's 17 to 4, because that's the number of federal Liberal MP's elected in BC, mostly in Vancouver, versus the four that were elected in Alberta. I believe the hippies and Natives can relax on this issue because I doubt a single stick of pipe on KM, or any other future project in BC, will ever be put in the ground. Trudeau is going to let this all fizzle out on it's own because he's not giving up four times the seats in BC for the ones he has in Alberta. If, as you say, he's popular in BC because of killing the Gateway project, then he'll need BC to shore up his losses elsewhere as his gaffe-ridden debacles continue to ruin him in the rest of the country.

What's permanent that will come out of this is the enmity that's been created between two provinces that used to be reliable friends to each other. Good luck to any BC government (Dipper, Green, or even Liberal) that ever tries to cozy up to Alberta or expect Alberta's support on their own issues. That bridge is burned, buddies. You wanted an enemy for life? Well, you certainly went out of your way to make one.

No, the feds said Kinder Morgan is a go and they better show the guts to stick to that. Work is being done, that's why the injunction keeps them outside the fence.

What little support I grant to the Liberals is that at least they will compromise, not like Conservatives purged of progressives. They'd give CP rail 1,000,000 railcars at taxpayer expense to rattle the shit through downtown in open top cars just to show you who's Boss if so much as one person protested over one single pipeline.
Like I've conceded already, it is the project the least adverse to the environment, it IS in the national interest and if any of the fuckers waving placards actually owned a car and looked at the price at the pump, it is in their OWN interest.

BTW Trudeau didn't win a single riding along BC's northern gateway. It's Tory vs NDP country. Nobody could even tell you who the Liberal candidate was. And in Prince Rupert, they're up against Nathan Cullen.

Natives with an agenda, tell me it ain't so.

Because the Northern Gateway Pipeline wasn't the best idea ever doesn't mean that Natives or other Canadians aren't capable of using sane environmentalism to further fiscal responsibility and the likely reason there were "thousands" of protesters at the anti Kinder Morgan rally was because most of the pro pipeline side were probably at WORK.

Protests continue despite prep work completion at Kinder Morgan

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Workers for the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion say they’ve finished up prep work at both the Westridge Marine and Burnaby Mountain terminals — and they’ve done it ahead of schedule.

Thanos @ Sat Mar 24, 2018 11:03 pm

Prep work only = clearing trees and brush. Adding a stock photo from another project that wasn't even taken during the winter construction season doesn't make it real.

herbie @ Sun Mar 25, 2018 11:27 am

Don't be so pessimistic. They've also started the dock expansion, even built a massive fence and some patrol boats out into the inlet to keep the kayak crowd away. Dunno if they've begun tunneling under Burnaby Mt. yet or laying pipe towards the terminal.

And KM, Notley and the feds have still FAILED to push the issue that it will mean more supply to the Burnaby refinery, more gas to other Burnaby storage sites and more oil to Washington refineries that will bring the price down there.
Meanwhile - get this - Horgan's suggested that Trudeau do something, like regulate prices. While he's posed to increase the BC carbon tax by 1.2c April 1st!

Washington refinery is back up, prices have gone down a penny or so. But as I warned, the oil sellers now know Canadians will only bitch about $1.60 a litre, so they're free to massively gouge all of us just because they can.

The Hypocrite Eco-Fascists vehicles they use to get to the protests runs on Rainbows while the rest of the population who have lives and jobs are paying at the pumps.

Your dogmatic inclusion of right-wing cliche undermines your opinion even more than the completely fallacious implication that the protests and the current gas price have anything to do with each other.
Stick to posting memes about Foreign Aid and Disabled Veterans, they're effective with your riff-raff. The rest of us are trying to have a factual discussion.

Your Leftist Hypocrisy is no different than the Eco-Fascists protesting Kinder Morgan breaking the law and assaulting police officers. The price of gas and the protests are hand in hand keep burying your head thinking you're all high and mighty it's what you do best.
