Poll's could prove benificial.

I can think of a few.........

Dennis Baker
The vive software (geeklog.net) doesn't allow for user submitted polls, and I don't have time to implement such a beast. However, if someone wanted to code up such a plugin for geeklog, we would definitely consider using it.
The e107 CMS bundle used on the DDC and the Canard Réincarné sites supports this feature under its forum section. People could submit their polls to this site as an example of Direct Democracy.

In the absence of this feature on geeklog, I would simply suggest that the Vive board team documents their current submission procedure into Vive Admin that can then submit the poll to the members. Could be done under FAQ.

The poll submission feature is certainly supported for Admin as we see in all these polls we have voted on. Acceptance criteria should be also well laid out. I have submitted several polls so far as emails into the Vive admin folks and have not had a single one acknowledged. I do realize that these folks volunteer for Admin but perhaps we need more capacity there so that these People can cope with the steadily increasing Vive loading.

I agree that it should be documented; I believe things are more likely to be approved is posted via the online forms, as the editors apparently get a lot of email that they have to dig through. I'll make sure the board talks about the policy on user polls regardless.
Yep they were mailed into the Editors. I was not aware of a poll "Forms". It form is the mechanism, it does not show under banner "Polls" item anywhere.

Perhaps "Submit" is supposed to be used? But then there is no "Polls" item?

Any update on this from that last meeting? I would like to be able to submit polls the same way as we can submit articles.
It was decided at the Board meeting to encourage users to post poll suggestions in the "Suggestion Box" forumn topic. Like stories, the right to publish them or not is reserved

None of the board members recall recieving any poll suggestions from anyone, and we felt this was the best way to avoid having them sent to non-existant emails addresses due to typos.

Certainly never showed up in the suggestion box. Should it not have even if poll is not carried out???

Do you think it was a UI problem, User Inflicted? I certainly thought I did but perhaps not.
I only ask because I look in "Suggestion Box" and only see three things there. None are polls. If you submitted something to the suggestion box, then I am just wondering where they went, as there is nothing in the moderation logs regarding any polls being deleted.

Do you have any way to browse for outstanding member submissions over the last couple of weeks (assuming that I did not submit to the suggestion box)? Unfortunately I do not keep a record of when I submit things. There were two poll submissions done on the same day. Perhaps there is in fact a black hole and we can test for this.
No man. Once they are gone, they are gone. Whether it's the "submit story" queue or the Forums.

That's why we have a moderation log for moderators. But stories rejected in the "submit story" queue are not entered into the moderation log - mostly just comments deleted. Some of the stuff that gets rejected is foul, or someone who doesn't want to email the editors to voice their dissent, or just plain spam. Kind of tedious and redundant to record that stuff.
