Roy, why don't you have a rep from the NDP as well as the conservative party?

Yeah, I'm with Whelan here. The NDP actually actively demands progressive democratic electoral reforms. If the youth didn't see their votes as an exercise in futility, maybe we'd be more inclined to vote. As a member of the youth of Canada, I say this: The "leaders" of our country profess great admirable goals in order to secure a stronger future for us, the youth. However, almost every significant action being undertaken by the powerful nations of this world betray that claim in its entirety. The rulers claim to act in the interest of the youth, while every single action of theirs is purely greed-motivated. And unlike the adults who eagerly bite and swallow the lure, the youthful innocense identifies the avarice of the ruling elite and although they (we) can't eloquently justify their (our) dissatisfaction, it nonetheless exists. If you want proof, just read the lyrics to some real "punk" songs. I suggest Bad Religion or Pennywise. The angst of youth alludes to much greater things than broken hearts and drug overdoses. A generation of socially responsible, empathetic youth is growing up, and in return they are being shunned as outsiders and deviants. Oh, and your average Bad Religion song will probalby teach you about 5 new words. Really builds that vocabulary!!

Eminem is also a good artist to listen to as well. Listen to the Eminem Show to hear the words of a person who just feels their is something messed up with America. How many people out there don't know where to start or what to do, except to comment on how *censored*ed up the things they see are.

The decision to add MP Cadman was one that came from the CBC. Cadman is the MP of Surrey North (my own riding) and the intention was to ask him how he felt representing a riding that generated one of the lowest youth voter turnouts in Canada. Cadman we found out today will not be there - the House is sitting. His conservative replacement will be there instead - a local TV personality by the name of Jasbir Cheema. Cheema wrangled up 1500 new party members and that was enough to unseat Cadman. This will not be a huge rally or scripted event - its meant to be loose and easy. "play host Jian Ghomeshi goes on the road to convince that slim minority that's actually going to the polls they shouldn't bother. Yes even Ghomeshi, the eternal optimist and political activist, has been silenced. Why bother fighting it? There's just no point." Visit CBC for more information. To Kory: thank you for your comments. I will pass them on. For other youth who may read this post - send us your feelings about voting, and I will give them over to the CBC host - or use the link above. [email protected]
