“What we've got to do is pick ourselves up off the canvass,” he said. “We can't blame others for our elections losses last March. It was our fault and we've got to admit that. We didn't run a very effective campaign.”

Haha... I didn't even realize that Taft stepped down and they were having a leadership race... I just heard it on the radio the other day... they really aren't relevant here anyways

   

Dave Taylor is set to be the new king. Last month in a radio interview he said changing the Liberal name to the Alberta Party is 7th on his list. I'll bet he moved that up to 1st with all the Liberal BS going on in Ottawa the last couple of weeks.

   

I would think that might work. Look at the Conservatives in Saskatchewan, the Sask party. And they are in government again after there disaster in the 80's and early 90's

   

Albertan's aren't that gullible, we can smell a Liberal a hundred miles away.

Why do they need all that space?

   

True, but if they start by distancing themselves from the federal liberal party and actually build a party that can represent Albertans, they might have a chance. By distancing themselves, they have to cut ties to any liberal associations and move to the right. They really can't win as a liberal party.

Truth is, the pc has been in power for too long. It might not be entirely fair to Stelmach but I am curious to see what kinds of skeletons Oberg was talking about if they do ever lose an election.

There is also a risk with changing government, look at Saskatchewan, they would vote in the ndp for 10 years then the pc for 10 years, so every 10 years the government was undoing everything of the past 10... kind of laughable, I have a few friends out there, there line was if you want cheap equipment, just wait for the conservatives to take over from the ndp...

   

How refreshing to hear that some Liberals are actually stepping up to the plate, taking some of the blame and realizing that they need to do some real grass-roots work, instead of blaming us big, bad Conservatives for their woes. I wish them luck.

I actually heard on the radio today that the liberal party is pretty proud of themselves, they have recruited 6000 members... lol
