Seriously though, the mods can't see or read every post made here. If you have an issue, there is a report button. Use it, and they will handle it as they see fit. That is basicly how it works.
We just want everyone to be able to enjoy the site without getting attacked for their point of view just because it isn't shared by all. Everyone, long term member and newbie, deserve to be able to come here and not feel like they can't say anything in a thread that they have a view point to share. We will also be looking very closely at those who "bait" others into flaming.
QBC, this is exactly what I was trying to do yesterday. But, apparently it's not always possible here. It all depends on the members and some members won't allow this to happen. Theoretically, we should be able to disagree even on the most heated of issues without coming to blows, or words, considering it's an internet forum. Why can't we just state our positions, giving our reasons, and not let emotions get in the way?

I think you’re missing something here sugar, you cant expect to go toe to toe with someone who has been on the forum for years. You just showed on scene, you have a long way to go before you get the kind of credit and leeway our Brenda has gotten. She has earned her right to say what she pleases with little if any reprisal (she knows her limits) you have not. Spend some time in the trenches and as 'Chopper' Reid says "Harden the fuck up"
I thought I would give an update. Some who criticized the banning actions taken this spring said the forums would die and other such things after banning some prominent active posters.
The posting during the summer months was a bit slower, but this is fairly normal since people are out enjoying the weather and politics is mostly on break. I think forums in general are loosing some ground to new social media fads like Facebook and Twitter.
But even with all of that said CKA remains the fastest growing Canadian politics based forum and should surpass Freedominion (ultra right-wing forum) for overall post count this fall.
here is a graph showing the average growth per month during 2009. I forgot to collect data every month so its not the true "per month" but it still reflects the comparison accurately. 2009_forum_growth.PNG [ 15.83 KiB | Viewed 1068 times ]
Also the overall web traffic to the site has been unaffected, pretty well matching the traffic during last summer. cka_2009_traffic.PNG [ 15.27 KiB | Viewed 313 times ]
So I want to thank everyone that stuck by during bit of a dramatic period and I look forward to the future of the forums and site.
