you and hester.... you shouldn't mow your lawns too late in the day...
I remember reading the instructions that came with my lawnmower - it recommended mowing shortly after lunch at the hottest time of the day.
And youse knows me - I does what my lawnmower tells me to do.
I don't remember why that's the best time of day - I'll go ask my lawnmower... BRB

I can't get into chat anymore since I changed my name. It keeps saying Erroneus nickname.*sigh* I guess I am just too great for the chat room.

This is what he said to me:
Avoid cutting your lawn when it is wet. Wet grass tends to form clumps and interferes with the mulching action. The best time to mow your lawn is the early afternoon. At this time the grass has dried, yet the newly cut area will not be exposed to direct sunlight.
It went on about cutting heights too, but I walked away.

I didn't know we could use spaces in our nickname.... I imagine that's why you can't get in the chat.
Erinites said when she changed hers to *Erin* she couldn't get in.

Damn fine thinking! I'm gonna have to go root around in the fridge to see what I come up with.
My neighbour has as many buttercups as I do dandelions. They look nice compared to my dandelions. My own fault though for not looking after them. When I bought the house there were dandelions everywhere, except my yard - there was a very definite border. Now I have them too. I started to weed them out, but that would take years. So I weeded and feeded yesterday morning. Wrong time of year, I know, but I was getting pissed off.

I think there was a case of the time zone effect. The problem with mowing your lawn (Or cutting plants in general) later in the day is that the cut will take longer to dry, and this increases chance of infection. Cutting in direct sunlight, as your manual points out, just lets more moisture evaporate from the plant, and most lawns are moisture deprived in general.
Try planting some clover in with your grass.... it's one of the best things for a lawn: stays greener in dry times, covers the ground preventing weed growth, and it's a nitrogen fixer, so not so much fertilizer (if you're one to waste your time with fertilizer).

Get the long-handled one. I have the short-handled one. One hour of picking dandelions = two days of aching back + an extra fervid hatred of dandelions.
I'm hauling out the 'Round-up' comes out next weekend.
Hester, my backyard needs mowing as well....

How much would it cost to ride a mower on the ferry?
Great! I have a mower actually so all I need is you. Hester to mow, and lily to garden.
Thanks you guys!
