Billy Bishop is officially credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian ace, and according to some sources, the top ace of the British Empire....
In my digital painting I am portraying Billy in his Nieuport 17 fighter which his mechanic painted the plane's nose blue after Billy shot down his 5th enemy plane...Blue nose was the mark of an ace...

That's pretty neat Stemmer!
When I was doing some research for this image I was surprised about all the controversy over Bill Bishop's air records... I don't think they are anything substantial just surprised someone would question a legit Canadian war hero like Bishop....
The Royal Air Force named a VC10 jet transport after him. I worked on it often. All the VC10's were named after Air Force Victoria Cross winners.
Thanks EyeBrock... I wasn't aware of this...
Anyone know of any reference images or info for Roy Brown's WWI airplane?
