There seem to be quite a few people here with an interest in photography, as well as a number of people with some real talent as well. The "Still Life" thread is one of my favourites here.
For entertainment purposes, and for my own education(because I'm just getting into this photography thing) I'm proposing a thread or threads dedicated to different "projects" or "homework" with our cameras. Each week, or however often, anyone who's interested can go out and take pics that fit within certain guidlines and post them here. Then we can critique, advise, or simply admire each others work.
What I mean by "guidelines" would be something like pictures with unusual POV, or pics where depth of field is used to good effect. That kind of thing.
I'm heading out to Beaumaris Lake in a bit for a walk with the kids so I'll be bringing my camera to play a bit. Hoping someone will respond to this and have an idea for the first project before I go.
Guess I didn't give enough lead time on this lol, heading out now. Gonna try and get some unusual POV shots at the lake.
What are you using Unsound? As in camera.
Alright I guess I shall start the ball rolling....
That's pretty sweet Guy.
EB I'm using a Canon Rebel. Not too fance, but good enough for me. Sadly, I made a rookie mistake tonight and left wothout making sure my batteries were fully charged lol Got a few shots before they died but mostly just had a nice walk. I'll post what I had later if they look any good on the full size screen.
Which rebel do you have, Im rockin the SXi.
This sounds like a good idea. I'll have to go out tomorrow and get some shots.
Need some RAID for all the shutterbugs in here
Today being Halloween and all, how about if all you photography gurus see what kind of Halloween shots you can get?
Could be a really cute "trick or treater", the neighbours pumpkin, someone's decked out yard... Anything Halloween.
Whatchya think to that for the first "assignment"?
Sounds good Rose!
Guy, mine's the Rebel Eos XS. Not knowing anything about digital cameras I just had to go with what the guyy at the store reccomended when I said i was replacing my film camera. A Nikon F90.
I'm liking the Canon alright. It's not quite as good as the Nikon was for exposure, and it's not as quick at continuous shooting for action stuff, but otherwise it does everything I need it too.
Good idea WRG, I'm not sure how much of a chance I'll get as I'm busy tonigh, but I'll see what I can do. At the very least I'll probably get a cute shot of my daughter in her first halloween costume lol
Oh, and just because I feel like it, here's a couple I got yesterday before my battery died, and a couple that I'd forgotten I had that just got put on photobucket last night.
from Beaumaris
From the Muttart Conservatory
I'll try for halloween pictures but its gonna be hard to get out and about tonight.
