Immigrant moving to Halifax. Is it LGBT and tattoo friendly?

Hi, I'm an immigrant planning on moving to Halifax and I just wanted to know how LGBT friendly is it and if there's a large LGBT community? And do people in Halifax look/stare/comment derogatively about others (women esp.) With visible tattoos and piercings?

Thank you!

Does that actually happen still?

:? Im swith Tricks on that one, and I would assume it has an average LGBT sized community for a city it's size. Your best bet would be to ask on some Halifax specific forums, or search for gay bars in the Halifax area.

They have absolutely no problems with alternate lifestyles, tattoos and piercings in Halifax... they just hate immigrants.

Kidding...

Just be ready for the fights downtown Friday and Saturday night after the
bars let out and you'll be fine.

Good times. good times. :)

Hell yes. And they'll ask where the carnival rides are too.

Just about any city in Canada is going ti be tolerant if not friendly. Im sure you will feel welcome in Halifax. Its the regional centre with 300,000 plus people so im sure you will find LGBT community easily as well.

An Aussie in Halifax ?

Just stay permanently drunk ( so the locals can understand your 'English' )
and you'll be fine.

Welcome Natcan! :)

Don't let the language bother you. I also reside in Montreal, and don't speak any French. Provided that you live on the west part of the city, you should be fine as most of your neighbors will be English speaking.

Depends. Are the tattoos ugly?

commanderkai @ Thu May 02, 2013 3:31 pm

Are tattoos really that discriminated against anymore? I mean, I think excessive tattoos are ugly as fuck, but generally, my exposure to excessive tattoos generally begins and ends with porn
