I hate to be superficial, but Jane your hair was a car wreak! The only point I see that she made definitively was of course on the green issue that what is on the table is far short of what we need.
I will not support James, she makes my skin crawl. Gordo was on point and it was his debate to lose. I did not see that he lost this one but he didn't play off the Greens vs the NDP like he did last time. I think that is a bit of a nod to Jane herself running a solid campaign that wasn't as amateurish as her predecessor.
Throughout the debate, Sterk regularly interjected with criticism of both party platforms, and said the two leaders need to get beyond what she said was simple partisan bickering.
“We just had an example of the blame game,” she said after one exchange between James and Campbell.
“This is how things are done in our province. We need to do something different,” she added.
At one point, Sterk became frustrated because the two leaders were ignoring her assertion they are both taking the wrong approach to crime.

“I actually feel like I’m not here,” said Sterk.
We all wish the same thing. The debate sort of highlighted the whole mood for the campaign: boring, boring, boring. I don't think many people watched the debate because I don't think it's really captured anyone's imagination or passion. The debate was too scripted, like a bad sitcom. Campbell really needs to go. It baffles the mind why the Liberal party chooses to keep him around. He always comes across as an elitist arrogant bastard. Unless the Libs are going to elect the Friendly Giant as their next leader they might not be able to shake their image as the party to rule the people instead of the party for the people. Luckily for them they have James and the NDP to make them look good. My bullshit alarm always goes off every time one of them speaks. I don't beleieve that they've done their homework on what their platform is going to cost or what will happen to our economy if we actually implemented some of their hair brained schemes. The Greens? Less said the better. They exist as a warning for others that things can always get worse. Sterk looked like she was going to her book club meeting. That's not the image of the leader of B.C. that's going to garner any respect from people outside of B.C.
Who cares who won. The sad truth is, given these three choices, we're all gonna be the losers.
Boy! Ain't that the truth!
Sterk had no business there. The "hair" aside (what the hell was that anyway?), with her position on drug prohibition (which is actually a federal purview) and a minimum living income (unaffordable), she lost any chance of picking up a seat.
I know everyone says James won it, but I think it was more like Campbell blew it. If he had at least answered a question or stopped himself from being so condescending, it might have been a tie. He came off so arrogant and asinine I think he lost any points he might have had going in.
I have to admit that 8 years in power may be too much for the Libs here and the idea of 12 scares the crap out of me. I hope if the NDP get back in, they behave this time.
I'm split. I can't vote because I don't live in B.C. yet, and I'm a year away from 18. However I will be living in Beautiful B.C. in a little over a year's time, so this election does matter to me...
I am a Conservative, and the options are abysmal for me, but the least of the worst (obviously), for me, is Gordon Campbell and the B.C. Liberals. They are somewhat pro-business and the party that I'd trust most enough to get B.C. through these tough economic times.
However, as someone who'll be moving to B.C. as a university student, the N.D.P. (at least for the next 5 years while I'm in a post-secondary institution) is enticing. Part of their platform is to freeze the tuition rate...which has financial incentive for me and any taxes they may raise would be a non-issue for me (because as a student I'd be low-income and pay little to no taxes to begin with).
Sooo...ironically, in the back of my mind...I hope the N.D.P. wins because they're the best for my personal interests.
James wasn't as rabid as she usually is so I give her credit for that but it's no where near enough to consider giving her the checkbook again. Gordo was typical "don't worry you're pretty little heads over that". Greens.. who cares. An embarassing non-starter at best.
I was thinking of voting for the new Conservative whatever-they-are party but conditions now are similar to when the NDP before and I definately can't risk that. Splitting the right vote is dangerous and a pack of commies running the province could send us right back to the bottom of the pile again.
I did like hearing that the Libs are considering lobbying the feds to reverse the of shore drilling moritorium and I'm all for that. I think that will be the deal maker for me.
Show up and do your STV vote leave the ballot blank if you must. Green doesn't deserve any votes after that sad display!
James won. Pretty clear when she had Gordo dodging and smirking. Makes people hate him even more when he smirks. That's what the pundits all say. It was so boring I nodded off after 15 minutes.

If universities cannot raise tuition then they will have to cut expenses. This means goodbye TAs, goodbye library spending, goodbye sports teams. If you think the government will just make up the shortfall, keep in mind the money has to come from somewhere, and the NDP loves increasing sales taxes to help pay for their crazy spending. If you honestly think it can't affect you, think again.
I only saw the nightly new highlights on that one. The only quick thought fragment I remember having was "Jeez will somebody buy that Green lady a hairbrush".
Seriously, you'd think if you knew you were going to be on television if front of at least tens of people, you'd at least brush your hair.
