ehh... I get that but YT comment section is a funhouse mirror. Take the comment section on ANY mainstream news like Global national. You would swear the entire contry if chock full of convoy supporters and Fuck Trudeau types. In other words the most obcene monopolize the spotlight to the point that it becomes a subreddit and the only people who post are the ones who agree with the prevaling sediment till it becomes an echo chamber.

However, holding a channel to account because of the channel followers actions is a slippery slope just ask iDubbbz. Add to that ignoring a platform entirely doesn't make it go away it just makes it dangerous if it has enough support it can piece the surface of civil society in unexpected ways like Trump's populism did because the underlying issues were never truly addressed.

That's fair. It was just basically all the same comment. I've seen comments supporting Krystal....when she's parroting right wing talking points. Their viewership has definitely skewed right.

   

Sagger's journalistic ethics are not doing them any favors either and they need to find their audience which pays them. This is an Achilles heel of modern media as not for profit journalism is taboo in a capitolist cult we are in.

Still their mandate of independent journalism is laudable, if flawed but we are all human.

   

   

   

Not only did I stop long time ago from reading the comments I don't even watch any Youtube videos anymore. I don't even know how so many in here have the time to watch then upload so many videos.

   

It's basically all I watch. I dropped Netflix because everything there sucked. But I just did 2 hours of incredible science information. Dark Star candidates, Foamy Spacetime, Vegetarian Sushi recipes. Stuff I can't get anywhere else. Thinking of dropping Curiosity Stream too, because they should have all the science content.

I don't post a tenth of the stuff I watch on Youtube, I only post stuff I think everyone might enjoy. With exceptions of course.

   

The YT comments are a great place to get into it big time with the diehard Trump fans. It's like being a heel in pro wrestling cutting a killer promo on the inbred fans in a small Southern city, with the material pretty much writing itself for you. "You Trump supporters are nothing but gap-toothed beer-bellied, pork-rind addicted poor white trailer park trash!". The result is identical to using a slingshot to fire rocks at a wasp's nest. And strangely enough doing this to them never gets old.

   

No offense to all who post them, but I rarely watch the videos that get posted here. I just don’t have the time.

   

None taken, but if I might suggest . . . Beau and Operator Starsky? They are usually 5 minutes or less, and are often funny and/or poignant.

Starsky, being in combat, is often dark humour too. Like, "Here is my good Russian Friend!" "He's a good Russian, because he is dead!"

   

Going by their general behaviour in any place unfortunate enough to have Russian military personnel come and "liberate" them, I'm really not all that ashamed to say out loud that dead Russians make me a happy panda.

   

Who says the art of conversation is dead? YT plays in the background as I do data processing. My shift is 8 hours long so I get a lot of stuff in that time and over time have become more efficient. Not speaking for anyone else but I post video's that I find of interest for one reason or another. Usually the Youtuber will say or present something better than I could formulate myself or trial balloon an idea or concept. In that way it is the impetus for engagement that I am looking for. Sometimes its is shock (clickbait) but usually that's just in jest, most of the time it's to discuss bigger ideas in a way that that is new. Kind of like the way comedians broach taboo subjects so that it is easier to understand.
