This pissed me off
A quote from " HOW TO BE A CANADIAN" By the ferguson brothers
POP QUIZ
Canadain beer is stronger than American beer. true or false?
True__ but just barely. The numbers on the beer labels lie. The average Canadian beer is a mere 0.5% stronger than the average American beer. You see, the Americans use a different method of mesuring alcohol percentage than do Canadians, so a 5% Candadian beer is actually equal to a 4% American. Not a big difference. Negligible, in fact. We know, We know. It goes against everything Canadians have been taught to beleive. Canadain beer really isnt that much stronger than American. (Check out Jackson's Pocket Guide to Beer if you dont believe us.)
All my life I was so proud
But now I feel cheated... Used. Sad.
Alcohol content is a stupid way to measure beer...go by taste. I've had a twelve percent German beer...garbage. I've had a 3 percent British beer...fucking lovely. One of my favourites was one from Indonesia...no idea of the percentage, but a really good lager.
When I mentioned what happened to American beer during prohibition I was referring to the taste. If I just wanted alcohol content, I'd buy hard liquor.
alexander keiths, from nova scotia is starting to make a name for it self here in Manitoba too (it's only been out west a couple of years) and it tastes better than molson in my oppinion (although they try to copy molson in their commercials)
I'm not much impressed By Keith's, Corporal. If they want to sell themselves on taste they have a ways to go. If they want to be Molson's, then they better start tossing free prizes into their beer boxes.
A beer drinker will always drink a beer, GS Rider...12 ounces or more of liquid. We take big sips, and we take them constantly. Mon petit frere, who tends to drink whiskey neat, can make a beer last all night. I can make a bottle of Crown Royal disappear in a couple of hours. All we're doing is drinking at our regular pace.
I tend to shy away from whiskey...it should not be drunk at the same pace as beer and tastes funny besides. It also makes me forget where I was and causes me to wake up feeling like a dead man. So a beer is just esactly like drinking a glass of mixed booze. The difference is in how they are swallowed.
Big sips? When I drink a beer, it's gone in less time than it takes to read this here reply. But that would also explain why I'm flat on my ass after an hour.
When it comes down to it for me though, Keith's is better than Canadian partly because of the taste, but I think mostly because of the novelty. Not a lot of people around here drink it, and I like to stay away from the lemmings of the world. Mind you, this rationale doesn't mean I'm gonna drink Red Dog.
I cant understand this everyone here talks about basically exotic type of beer. Isnt there anyone out there drink Lethbridge Pilsner. Or Blue? Jeez yrs ago thats all anyone drank in my part of the woods. I like Pil cause it has that certain bite most beers dont have. Now everyone drinks Bud,Coors etc. I guess this post can be called a rant but dammit doesnt anyone drink good old Canadian beer any more? ok I took a deep breath. I do like Hieneken tho.
I've had Pil, Blubs...I went back to Canadian immediately.
I've had Red Dog too, Rider. Didja know that if you turn the label upside down, you've got a picture of Batman eating Catwoman? Give it a shot, it's true. Every beer needs one redeeming quality and that's the best that Red Dog can manage.
To me,at least, Alexander Keith's is just another commercial swill. Don't get me wrong...I have a Canadian right here right now. I appreciate commercial swill. It isn't exactly the best the industry is capable of coughing up though.
It (commercial swill) is predicatable and pedestrian...the Big Mac of beers. The rest is advertising.
In the eight yrs I spent in BC (Am back in a sane province AB) I had a hell of a time finding Pil had so I drank Canadian not a bad beer just didnt have the bite Pil has.
I do apologise to you BCers nice province but give me the wide open spaces. MOst of the guys at WCA drink BUd and even tho it is brewed in Canada still tastes rather weak.
Do they still brew Uncle bens and Okeef.
Carling O'Keefe was bought out by Molson's a few years back. I havent seen a O.V. since, although Molson may still produce it. As far as tastes go I love a cold Keith's with a nice steak dinner, but Canadian and Bud are my drinking beers. If we are talking whiskey, it's gotta be Wisers kept in the freezer, but just like Rev, Whiskey as that damn what the fuck happened last night thing attached to it. Gangrenous can back me up on that one. ( what cab ride)
I kinda thought MOlson'S bought em out. You are right about the whiskey. I cant really believe how varied ones tastes are when it comes to booze. I personally like C.C. and Shmirnoff vodka.
Fixer, you want some booze with kick try Hutterite potatoe wine. Now that is potent stuff. One more question does Newfoundland still make Screech?

I drink Molson down here regularly , and occassionally Labatts - which is advertised quite a bit on TV. It features a guy in a bear suit that always has Labatts , and you're supposed to get the impression that he's gonna get laid everytime cause he's got the beer. What I want to know is - are Molson and Labatts sold here in the states the EXACT same product that's sold in Canada? The bottles say it's from Canada , but I'm wondering if it's altered at all

Muhahahahaha, we will never tell, by the way do find you have the urge to eat bacon and doughnuts after a Molson?
I would think that they are slightly altered as you can buy beer in stores in the states. I drove through California a few years back and bought a box of Blue (labatts ) and it tasted rather flat to me. I was amazed at how much Canadian Beer they had in that Safeway store they had Canadian Labatts and High Test which is what we call Old Stock in Alberta. Maybe ask Fixer seems he knows more about beer than a Brewmaster. Or Rev for that matter.
