I WOULD STRONGLEY SUGEST THAT YOU NOT WATCH THESE CLIPS !

I was talking with a few of the boys at work and we got on the subject of war and what it does to people both here and to the soldiers in the field.
The beheading issue came up and we were talking about how it is being used as a terror propaganda.

I have helped pick up after more than a few train accidents and I consider myself hardened.
However after being called over to the desk of a coworker who was watching a actual beheading

I know now that man has sunk to a new low. The production involved with this beheading was unbelievable camera angles lighting everything was considered in the filming.

What utter anmials these people are. What a wanten disrespect for life they have.
the rest of the night shift was passed in uneasy quite.

I will never look at another one of these again

I'm torn on this issue. On the one hand it repulses me to watch things like that. On the other...I want to watch and confirm my disgust for these animals and their actions. My biggest fear is that we will become desensitized by constantly watching the actions of both the actions of terrorists and those fighting terrorism. War sucks the big one. I will never understand why we as a species are so quick to embrace it.

I think people have already become desensitized - I mean look how much attention the first 'beheading video' recieved, as compared to those since. I think by watching them you are slapping the victim and the family of the victim in the face. It's only out of a sick morbid curiousity that someone would want to watch something like that - that's all their is to it. By watchint these clips it only encourages the terrorists to make 'sequels'. Let's not forget that these are actual people being murdered.

Like I said I really wouldn't have seen these except for the fact that someone had put it up on the computer .
I have seen plenty of stuff first hand and I feel I can take most things.
But this left me feeling sick to think humans can act like that.
As for encouraging them to make sequels these people need no encouragement they seem to be loving it. they are pigs.
We can thank the Arab press for these sights on the net.

Did someone hold your head and force you to watch it? Or could you have simply walked away? I'm not trying to be condescending - I simply don't understand why anyone would want to watch. I'm curious, what motivated you to stick around and watch it as opposed to walkiing away?

You're right, not watching these video's won't stop the terrorists from being what they are - cowardly lowlifes - but at least it would show some respect toward the families of the victim - and the victim, as well.

Tell me, if you were to lose your life in this manner - would you want people gawking at your during your final moments? I know I wouldn't, I wouldn't want my death captured on video no matter what the circumstances, I'd much rather have my life memorialized than my death.

I've seen them all. I think the sickest ones where the two most recent American ones in which you could hear the guys screaming, and then as they sliced into their necks deeper you could hear their screams have a more higher pitched tone....I suppose that was cause they were still screaming and they were cutting into their vocal box or whatever. I understand that people might think we are such a desenitized society, and that it really doesn't have an impact on people, but if you ask me I thought all the videos were pretty sick and very sad. I don't care about how bad the US is, or how much people think Americans deserve terrible things to happen to them....two wrongs don't make a right, and that goes for US intervention in the middle east and also for beheadings of Americans. As much as I was sad about the beheadings, it didn't create fear of people who did them, it just made me angry and made me felt like they should die(the people who did the beheadings). Now, that is just being honest in my feelings, but I usually use reason so I came to my senses and realized that it is sad and sick, but so are the US's bombings of countries and how my government is run....

Narissa

No one held my head, They did however catch me off guard.
We were talking about the war and how things get in a war .
This guy got it up on a computer and called us over to see something and boom there it was.
As for why I stayed and watched I have to admit that it was half curiosity and half mail machismo.
It is routine in my line work to see if you can hold down your lunch while working security at a accident scene. stupid to soutsiders but a way of cooping and gallows humor helps sometimes.
But restasured that I have NO intrest in seeing this stuff again.
I was just courious as to how many people have seen this and see how this stuff effected others.
Aparently there are thirty or forty of these on the web I think if it can be done.they
should be taken off

I initially was curious to see the video - but the description on the news was enough for me. I have a pretty strong stomach and am sure I could 'handle' it - I think the main reason I don't watch, is on some things - I'd prefer to 'be in the dark' so to speak.

Ralph @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 10:19 am

Well I like to know about things and see for myself.
But in this case I have seen enough.

This stuff is seen on the news through out the Arab world on the news.
Every night and has a large following.
I thought hockey fights were bad for children to see.

Now of course the innocence of a person is the main difference... But is watching a beheading any different than watching the execution of a war criminal, or a murderer? I mean people used to line up to watch hangings...

Ralph @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 12:33 pm

Ya I know I don't think that I would be one of those people.
Just to see someone die...No its not for me.
I have seen more than enought already.

Rev_Blair @ Fri Oct 15, 2004 2:17 pm

I have no compunction to watch these videos at all, but beheadings, public ones, are not exactly a new phenomenon. These are people who took a known risk in going to Iraq. Most of them are involved with the US forces or US contractors in some way.

Does that make it right? No. It certainly doesn't make it anymore wrong than blowing up children with daisy cutters though.
