How about if you take a look from the unbiased side of our relationship with the USA, and ask yourself what is our national interest as Canadian here?
And also let’s ask our self as friends and not arms twisters, how we can influence the USA foreign policy in a positive way that ensures our mutual friendship and business partnership.

Seriously... to your second question, the answer is no. Bush is too stuborn to listen. He came here to ask us to join missile sheild, and now, to have a more active role in "his war against terrorism". We sent more than our share of troops in afghanistan. The only true war against terrorism; Iraq is only about the oil. Nothing to do with 9/11. Business partnership... do I need to remind you about BC Salmon, Beef and soft lumber.
And to answer your first question, American are great poeple, individually. Many of them are my friends, just not sure why some of them voted for Bush. My problem is not about the US as a whole, just Bush's policies and actions.
He doesn't care about us. He's not here to show good faith, he's not even trying to be a good neighborg. Missile sheild, "his war on terrorism", thats it.

Instead, all he will want is Canadian hot air – "support" for a missile defence program that we couldn't stop no matter how hard we tried, and which won't cost us a cent.

Beyond that, me as Canadian I have much more problem with my politicians who are representing my countries' interest, but only to have it damaged to the extreme for nothing more than an empty self gratification because they are going on retirement, and they want to stamp their own names in history.
It is time for Canada to play a roll of its own for a change...
You want Canada away from the USA policy alone while you don't seem like you give a dam if Canada picked the Corrupt UN policy for instance.
You want to talk international politic, let's talk international politic, but leave the Bush rethoric out of it...
