Although this is a positive gesture , I still want to know what is being done to prevent " friendly fire " incidents in the future . Preventing these tragedies from happening again would be the best way to honor the men who were killed .

I couldn't seem to find the article you posted dude. Maybe I'm just blind, but I looked everywhere there for it. I saw it on the news, but being here in the states I have sen almost nil coverage on it except for the ticker on CNN.

Bad link , I could not find the original story either . There is not much about this story in Canadian press , and almost 0 discussion of it in U.S. press . I feel the best way to honor the men who were killed would be to investigate the command and control apparatus , as well as the pilots - and try to determine : #1 HOW THIS HAPPENED #2 WHAT STEPS NEED TO BE TAKEN TO AVOID IT HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE #3 PUNISH THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY WRONG DOING - EVEN IF THEY ARE HIGH UP ON THE CHAIN OF COMMAND . Friendly fire has been , and still is a problem . The u.s. killed it's own people in gulf war 1 because of lack of communication between forces. It's inexcusible for these kinds of incidents to happen with all this gee wizz high tech modern warfare capability at our disposal . I have tried to put up several links to several Canadian articles about the medals issue , but they don't work . Maybe RH can find something about it and post it here .

well...... the accident was caused by bad timing on the us's part. the canadain troops ambushed a al-queda convoy and was shooting out the last talis and the planes flew over saw the fire thought it was firing on them and bombed the con voy taking out the canadian troops.

One of the fathers of the dead soldiers is refusing to except the medal, as he feels the gesture is a poor attempt to save face.
