Excuse my French, but this Ameican f*(k Paul Celluci and his boss really piss me off. Todya on the news he says they will continue to deport Canadian citizens to where ever they want.

Great. Now the US can farm out the torture work to third countries to avoid dirtying their own hands.

I want Celluci deported.

We should have sent Celluci home a long time ago. He doesn't understand what an ambassador's role is and he constantly works against the best interests of Canadian voters.

Martin has a problem now too. He's already said that he will get to the bottom of the Arar case and that deporting people with Canadian passports to third countries has to stop. He's also said that he wants a closer relationship with the US and George Bush.

We've just had a major lawyer quit because of death threats that may have come from the US intelligence community. That lawyer has been specializing in cases where people have been targeted as terrorists. Martin is going to have to address that too.

I think we're going to see Canada/US relations get worse, not better despite Martin's efforts. I predict he will find that when he tries to accommodate them, the American gov't will just try to take advantage. People can say what they want about Chretien, but he knew this from the beginning.

I think relations will get worse as long as Bush is in the White House. The man has no concept of fair play. Remember that Chretien got along well with Diddlin' Bill Clinton. Possibly too well...I've often wondered if Chretien's relationship with Clinton didn't play a major role in not re-negotiating or scrapping NAFTA like he promised.

Martin, I believe, will be one of those PM's that is "in bed" with the USA. That's what was nice about Trudeau (even though I wasn't born yet, I've studied him in SS this year) and Chretien. They both looked for the interest of Canada first, then North America (or just the USA). We need another PM like them.

Bush doesn't give a damn about Canada and he never will. We've piised him off too many times with the gay marriage and legalizing pot for him to try to care. Which is why he'll abuse the powers he took in the patriot act to harras canadians because he's not accountable to them, only to the fat cats who bought his way into the white house.

As for the American ambassodor, he's acting just they way Bush and his cronies want him to act. Bush could never come out and say those things so he gets Celluci says them for him.

That's why he should be sent home. His role is to provide a liason between our government and his. Instead he issues press releases and makes speeches to business groups that are highly critical of Canadian domestic policies. Demanding a real diplomat to fill his place would send a message to the Bush Administration that such behaviour is not acceptable.

Martin will be very bad for Canada, DMP. His record is one of pleasing his corporate masters and those masters answer to head offices in the US. I was never a big fan of Chretien, but he did have the balls to stand up and say no. Martin's nuts are kept in a safe on Bay Street and his spine resides in a desk drawer in an office on Wall Street.

I think that can be somewhat mitigated by the left in Canada though. Have you noticed how little noise the Official Opposition has been making since Martin came to power? Have you noticed how often Jack Layton has been on the news? Have you noticed how Martin gets all defensive when Layton calls him on his policies.

I don't think the NDP can win a federal election, but they can be the Official Opposition, or at least a major voice in the House of Commons. When the Liberals see something is popular with Canadians they steal those policies. I think the NDP might get popular enough to be stolen from.

I just want someone in power that will kick the americans in the balls no bend over for them to have their way with.
Fuck sakes!! You cant just go deporting Canadians because you THINK they are terrorists! Fuck Sakes these are people! Canadian people! Do that to an American and we would be the next target of a cruise missle. Might show the world how fucked up they have become.
My cousin is going to marry an american. At christmas dinner I start talking to that guy about gun control in Canada versus America and how health care differs. He then starts talking about how Canada is behind the states and really doesnt have anything compared to the states. In a house full of Canadians. I mean holly shit. I just looked at him and so did the rest of the house. He wasnt very popular. I'm fed up with america and think they should be accountable. They make me mad but I dont hate them. And I certianly wouldnt badmouth them in their own home!!
Their day will come. I just fear it will be too late if it doesnt come soon.
