"Hey I am an american who has lived in michigan all my life. I have been to windsor and toronto a lot and really love your country. I joined the military and since I have been in I have gotten the chance to train with soldiers and sailors from your country. You truly have one if not the best country in the world. The reason for writing this is it sounds like some of the canadians on this site feel like america does not respect them. Well i'm here to tell you that I do and I have always been proud to serve with the men of your country. I see it this way Canada and America are like two brothers. No matter how much we pick on eachother we are always there for eachother when in need. I hope that the canadians on this site understand that there are a lot of americans who love canada and only want to have our brotherhood grow stronger. There will always be those few who are ignorant and I apologize for that. I hope to explore your country more when I get back to mine. T!
ake care of yourself and god bless Canada and America."

That was a nice email.
Right - friggin' - ON!
Hey Brad - if you're still out there.... it goes both ways, bud.
You will hear crap from time to time from Canadians, too; but I for one can tell you I know who our best friends are.... even if neither of us is perfect.
I spent three years as a kid, growing up in the western US ( still can recite the Pledge of Allegiance word-perfect at the drop of a hat). While I love Canada deeply, there are plenty of good things and good people south of the line. "Bin dere - Dun dat."
Be proud of your country, too!
I'd dearly like to see more communication of the kind you have written above, between our countries. Lets try to work toward it, bit by bit!
yeah, i have nothing agaist the Americans....just there gouvernment..Bush! i hope i'm not offending anybody but seriously...there was over $4 billion worth of oil in Iraq, he didn't care about there lives .. he wanted the money. and think if we all stoped spending billions of dollars on war we would have more money to save starving children...there's so many things in this world that needs help...
I appologise if i offended anybody by posting this.
Greetings..I'm new and a yank from just outside of Washington D.C...hey the war is not about oil...4-bill you say..and we've just been handed a bill for 87 billion......It is our foothold in the mid east to conduct ops on the terrorists..and yes innocents are being killed...but so are the bad guys...did you see the torture videos?.....we are doing the right thing....lord ya know it aint easy , you know how hard it can be ....I dont care to offend...but i'm just a pushy yank throwing in my 2 cents
Welcome to the board. I would be interested to know your feelings on why the US went into Iraq. I don't believe it was to prevent torture of the Iraqi's.

Hey guys, except for non rev, I don't think any of you got the point to the message. It was a guy in the armed service who was saying how proud he was of us and his own country. Why does it have to turn into another blood for oil, or bash bush thread? Not that I'm agreeing or disagreeing with anything anyone said here, but I think what Brad said is true, and I thank KA for posting it.
First post (great site by the way), as my name says, I'm from the US, and please excuse my VERY poor spelling. I for one have always been a HUGE canadian fan. Great country. I think that many countries/cultures could do well to learn from your proud nation. I have known many canadians (mostly from the Prarrie Provinces) and they have all been outstanding people to a one. I spent a holiday in Quebec City, truely a marvel of the continent. Trust me, many people here have an almost idealized view of your nation, and are indeed envious of your lifestyle. Please remember that the voice that you must be hearing (anti-canadian) from down here is by no ways the majority openion. As you know, it is the loud mouth openionated sort that always get the media's attention, and that creates false images. They are NOT true, we really do like you, and wish in many ways we were like you. Plus, you beer is much better!
Cheers
[quote="Yankeerugger", and wish in many ways we were like you.
I think we used to be - except for the Jim Crow segment of society. Somewhere and somehow we yanks seem to have lost our way. Rev blair can explain it better than me - that's why we pay him the big bucks
Where the hell is my cheque, Buford?
Never mind, I'll try to sum up all of my thoughts in one post....
I don't think the American people got lost so much as they've been led down the garden path and are now being pimped out and don't even know it.
The real problem is that I happen to like America. I love your constitution...right up there with the Magna Carta in my books. I love the idea of everybody being equal and anybody being able to acheive some sort of greatness by sweat and brains and hard work.
I've been to Amerika though...the real version. Close to where my friend lives in downtown Seattle there are two stores...one is for black people and junkies and one is for...Canadian tourists with a head full of beer I guess. I've shot pool with cowboys (real ones) in Montana, talked to natives who were at Wounded Knee (the 70's version), talked to people in bars in Minnesota and North Dakota. I get email from many people and read the musings of many more. So where in the hell is the Amerca I was told existed? What is this racist dog-eat-dog, whack the poor guy in the head, money makes might and might is always right, buy you or kill nation that's sprung up next to me? It ain't the place in the travel brochures.
The America I know is different from what it should be. It sure as hell isn't the America I see. It sure as hell wouldn't have invaded (illegally) Iraq. It sure as hell doesn't think that money is more important than people. It doesn't beat people down based on race. It doesn't make law based on religion. Where is the America I know should exist? It's been taken over by pig-fucking greed-hogs who'd do anything for a dollar.
The USA should, and could, be leading the way to a better world. Instead they are raping and pillaging and loudly proclaiming that any of us who don't follow suit are stupid and weak.
Amen
I don't think it would be a short fight, non-rev. If the US was to invade Canada there would be a lot of help popping up from all over the world and a guerilla war until help arrived.
There is no doubt the US can crush us on a one-to-one basis. That's not how one-sided wars get fought though. Look at Iraq, and they haven't been well thought of on the world stage for a really long time.
