Gates - NATO troops including Canada’s not up to job
Bring 'em home.
Gates meant NATO was created to fight off a Soviet Invasion not to fight an Insurgency, his comments were in no way disrespectful to NATO allies in Afghanistan. Of course the usual Anti-Americans spin it another way..

Even if that is what he meant, he obviously has no idea about what training the rest of NATO does. I can't speak for any other nation but as far as Britain is concerned we have completely moved away from training for war against the Soviets. The majority of training I have carried out in my 7 years service has been aimed towards operations in desert conditions and against guerilla tactics.

Gates comments have stirred debate among NATO allies and that's the best thing as with Pakistan's inner turmoil the problem of the Insurgency could grow..
Wouldn't Russia be experts on Afghanistan? Sure they were run out but they have experience that must be valuable in one way or another..

I never said that. You warmongers are breathtakingly stupid.
We're subsidising America's destruction of Iraq with our involvement in Afghanistan, and Canadian blood is the currency we're paying out the subsidy in. We've allowed ourselves to get dragged into a deeply unethical and nasty business over there.
It's wrong and it's not worth it anymore, especially considering the Americans' apparent lack of gratitude.
Besides, Afghanistan has become a sinkhole, costwise, and there are far better things to be spending our defence bucks on.

I think you might require some of this....
One of the things the seditious handwringers misrepresent is the actual mission in Afghanistan.
Following 911 THERE WAS NO INVASION. NATO coalition forces supported a conventional military campaign indirectly----supply, air strikes, recon data.....by the Northern alliance---the remains of the Afghan coalition which defeated the soviet occupation.
The victory of the Northern alliance left Afghanistan in urgent need of reconstruction, development and UN stabilizing influence.
The primary need is for the UN/NATO presence to not appear to be a unilateral US occupation---which it is not. Reconstruction, development and mentoring are the requirements as well as some military intervention to support the fledgling government in the face of terrorist INVASION from safe havens in Pakistan.
The only invaders in Afghanistan are the Taliban. Their original invasion from Pakistan occurred AFTER the soviets left. That key detail the lefties conveniently avoid. The Taliban are not an indigenous resistance but an irregular invasion by foreign militants.
Gates is a huge tool.
Although he is giving me an all expense paid trip overseas
